Fixing a "turkey neck" - is surgery the only thing that actually works?

Hi everyone. I'm asking about this on behalf of my DM. She is in her early 60s and she unfortunately has a textbook "turkey neck", which has become more prominent within the last few years. It's definitely impacting her confidence and wellbeing as she has told me so. She has already tried various creams and lotions for it, but found them to be a waste of money. Would botox work or is cosmetic surgery the only thing that can permanently fix, or at least greatly improve the appearance of, a turkey neck?

I’d suggest a neck lift

I just don't look at mine!
Surely it's only natural to have age-related changes all over your face and body when you get to your 60s and 70s. If I started on cosmetic surgery, where would it end? Acceptance is the thing. I'm grateful to be alive and if a body part doesn't hurt, I'm happy with it.
My daughter says nice things about my style, which is kind of her. Pay your mum more compliments if you want to boost her confidence.

There’s nothing wrong with cosmetic surgery in my opinion. For lots of people it can completely transform their confidence. Of course, I believe in moderation.

Unfortunately, the answer is Yes.

Im only in my 40s but weight loss has given me one. I was looking at botox

I believe Judy Murray had botox treatment for her neck and it was called a Nefertiti neck lift.

Look on Facebook they have chats dedicated to this sort of thing

The problem with treatments like this that the results are only ever temporary, which means shelling out hundreds, maybe a thousand or so every year to keep it up.

Plus it doesn’t address the actual issue, which is excess skin - unfortunately only surgery will remone it.

This is often covered in the Telegraph with people talking about their experience with various options - including non-surgery. The articles are behind a paywall but you can use archive.is.

I think minor improvements can be made with cream, face yoga , HFU for jowling/ sagging neck etc but for long term getting rid, surgery is the only option

Since WLI and botox became mainstream I think there will be quite a focus on this as both can cause jowling/ sagging over the long term and so I think new techniques will develop.
Interestingly techniques are changing for lower face, chin implants, scars behind ears and its all much less invasive
Currently keeping my weight stable, tret, creams and wrapping a scarf are working for me

A bit of dermal filler along the jawline can lift and sculpt the jaw which helps with the look of a turkey neck. Mines awful for my age and I resorted to this as scarves were just making it look worse for some reason!
