Can anyone recommend some wide fit, comfortable but smart trainers?

I wondered if anyone could recommend some smart trainers that are both comfortable for walking and also wide fit? I have wide feet with bunions (congenital - I’ve always had them). I had surgery on one foot years ago, but it didn’t really help so I never had the other done.

I am going on my first holiday in 8 years in July to France, where we will be doing lots of walking, so I need some smart trainers that are nice enough to wear with jeans, dresses, linen trousers or skirts, but are also comfortable for walking.

I wear Hotter shoes usually, but while I really like the style of the Hotter Switch trainers, I’ve tried and tried to break them in and they just aren’t comfortable.

Can anyone recommend something similar that might work? Any pointers would be much appreciated. For context, I’m 51 and am just in the process of building a new wardrobe having lost some weight.

Sketchers slipons do a white plain trainer which would fit your needs, I got them from M & S but had to return them as too wide for me. I don't really have wide feet just what I call duck shaped and need a wider toebox. Was disappointed as they were really comfortable but my foot was moving around inside them🙄

Skechers also do an arch fit trainer called
Arch Fit Arcade - Meet Ya There. It's a nice smart white trainer but they also do other colours too (with slightly different names)
I've found them very comfy to walk in

Sole Bliss https://solebliss.com/collections/trainers - I know I often post about them and they are spendy, but the amount of money I wasted on uncomfortable shoes before discovering them was insane. The slightly platform ones are my faves as theres more cushioning

Go to a running shop and get your gait analysed.
e.g. Women's Wide-Fitting Running Shoes - Run and Become

They'll help you. Explain what you need them for.

They don't need to be mega-expensive- these ones are about what I'd be willing to pay.

The big clumpy trainers are in fashion now so don't be put off by that.
I've not worn Brooks but they are very popular with runners. Asics are too.
New Balance do a wide fitting.

Both Asics and NB have trainers that are fashion shoes - I would avoid those.

I've not worn these ones:
Wide Fit Running & Hiking Shoes | HOKA® UK but they look fashionable

Hokas have been the best for my wide feet. I have them in wide but they also do extra wide versions.

New balance also have a wide toe box but I don't find them as comfortable as the hokas if I'm doing a lot of walking.

Another vote for Hoka. I have wide feet which are completely intolerant of almost all closed shoes and after trying 10+ pairs the Hoka were the only comfortable ones (and have remained comfortable - no ‘breaking in’!).

Just to reinforce my pp. The gait analysis is worth doing as it will spot if you need a support shoe and if you get the right type of shoe it makes running/walking so much more comfortable.
You don't need to be a runner to get it done and they'll not be judgemental.

I have had a pair of these for the past 2 years and have just bought a new pair. They are very comfortable and have done many miles.

They are really the very lightest pink and I have pink laces rather than white.
I do find that if you are doing lots of walking it is good to have 2 different pairs of trainers so you can give your feet a rest. I would also say that I wouldn't climb a mountain in them but country path would be OK.

Gabor wide fit are cheaper than sole bliss. Just as good. I think Geox do some wide fit and look at M&S but they do way less then they used to. However I like their offerings and some are quite wide!

Thanks all for the recommendations. I’ve ordered a pair of Gabor ones that should be here later today, so fingers crossed they’ll suit!
