No.7 skincare routine

Can anyone help me get started? I am in my early 40s, I have fine lines on my forehead and one vertical between my brows, and I have crows feet which I hate in photos and I think really age me. But I also get lots and lots of comments about how young I look.

Up until now my skincare routine has been
Morning - facial scrub in the shower, use cleanser and put on SPF 15 moisturiser
Evening - intend to cleanse and use a night cream but usually forget.

I got a no.7 skincare set recently which included these mini tubes of retinol, eye cream, night cream. The tubes are tiny so would surely run out fast and be expensive to replace. Do I put them all on, one on top of the other?

Thanks for your wisdom.

I love the no.7 future renew products. The serum, day and night cream. I also love the no.7 cleansing balm.

I don't think you should apply more than one product containing retinol to the skin at a time. The advice is usually to apply it more gradually, working up to using it every night. You'd also need to apply SPF when using it. If you like the No7 products, you should be able to buy them at a discount.

Firstly, please stop using a face scrub. You are very likely to be damaging your skin barrier. A gentle hydrating cleanser is all that’s necessary for the morning cleanse. And change your SPF to a 50, especially if you are going to start using retinol.

Depending on what’s in the set, yes you can, and should, layer skincare. Retinol should only be used at night and be very careful to start with. Use a few times a week and build up, with a moisturiser as a barrier. Apply the eye cream first if you want to use one, then retinol, then night cream.

Thanks for the advice. I have been using facial scrub every day for 20+ years! I don't have any issues with my skin, so I don't think it is too damaged.

You have a great set there

So eye cream first then apply retinol on face avoiding eye area - do this once a week

The rest of the time apply eye cream then moisturiser all over the face on the other 6 nights

The order matters more than you'd think. Retinol goes on clean skin before your night cream, not after, since thicker creams can block it from absorbing properly. Eye cream is really just a lighter moisturizer marketed separately, so honestly if your night cream isn't too heavy you could skip it and save money, but if you do use it, pat it on gently before the retinol.
