Prom dress - where to buy

Getting ready for prom (far more important than GCSEs!) and of course EVERYONE has their dress already except DD. She is looking at websites like Baby Boo (I think) and al the dresses look AI generated to me. Any suggestions for good quality dress sites? Or shops in and around West/SW London?

I would advise if buying online to check how easy it is to return. With my DD we had to try on so many before finding one that fitted. Some were way too big, others too tight on the bum, others the waist easy on the wrong place for her, sizing seemed quite random!

We spent hours tonight scouring websites and no joy - Vinted has loads but she has a very specific idea in her head and nothing matches up. This is going to be a long few weeks!

Same here!! Looking for last month

I really wouldn’t recommend Stacees. My daughter ordered the same dress in two different sizes and we are having a nightmare trying to send them back for a refund. Stacees basically don’t refund despite what they say on their website. The quality of the dresses we received is awful - they are like dressing up clothes rather than proper dresses. Also the slit on the skirt made the dress indecent when my daughter sat down! So far Stacees have offered a £40 refund in total on the dresses which cost £184 in total. They suggested that we should resell the dresses on a second hand clothing website!

Both my DDs went to Fonthill Road for their dresses. So many choices - just be prepared that changing facilities are small. Some shops don’t take credit cards.

Didn't get to Fonthill over easter as planned thanks to being laid low with a virus. Ordered one from Vinted but was like a pp mentioned - dressing up clothes not a prom dress. I am feeling a bit panicked now, the only online sites seem to have awful reviews about returns and quality (if the products show up!). Nothing on asos, etc to suit either. Anyone get their dresses recently and can vouch for the seller?

We got a made to measure one from Stacee's. I was worried in case it didn't fit because it wouldn't be returnable. Luckily it fit perfectly and was nice quality. I'd buy from them again.

Agree - we bought a made to measure one and it’s lovely! Arrived very quickly as well. Very reasonable too.

Vinted ! Dd1 dress was £40 Dd2 dress was £9! I mean it still adds up by the time you have bought shoes, and maybe makeup or accessories but at least the dresses were cheap.

My neighbours daughter got her dress from vinted and it was lovely plus as it wasn’t a “current”’one, nobody else had the same one. My neighbour bought her a lovely necklace to keep and then got her some shoes and bag she’ll use again
she said no way was she spending hundreds on a dress for 3-4 hours it’s just absolute madness.
