Had my hair hi-lighted this afternoon it looks bright blonde all over and quite nice down but when I pull it back from my face as I was hoping to have on the day I look like a demented badger! the main problem being "tufties" on my temples since having mt babies are still dark brown. (in fairness the hairdresser told me she could not catch them in the foils as they were new growth/too fluffy). There are a few definate stipes as well showing big roots. I remember years ago having a gold hair mascara type thing, do they still exist? does anyone know where I could get one from quickly as this is the only thing I can think that may help, all bar going back and paying another £95 which we really cant afford.

Also if I wash my hair loads will that make them brighter or help the situation do you think?

they do make those sort of things but what if it rains? It should be the hairdressers responsibilty to correct it free of charge if your not happy with it.

triffictits · 17/06/2008 19:54

oh no what a shame.

Can you not colour the whole lot of it to get rid of the badger look?

If you wash your hair loads the colour will fade rather than go brighter.

I think you should go back to the hairdressers - mad4 is right - its their responsibility to correct it, especially the stripes showing roots.

I would wash it see how it looks. If you don't like it then go back to the hairdresser and they should put it right.

MamaG · 17/06/2008 20:07

could you rethink the style for teh big day, possibly have some bits twisted rather than straight back?

missblythe · 17/06/2008 20:09

Go back!

She can just brush the colour on and leave it, doesn't need to be in foils.

Nightmare, though, just 4 days before.

I had total hair DISASTER 6 days before we got married, and had to use a whole precious extra day to have it put right again.

Grrr! [fist-shaking emoticon]

As a former hairdresser, I would say:
If they are high-lights not low-lights the hair has been bleached so no ammount of washing will change the colour.
You ought to go back to the salon. If there is a gap between roots and where the colour starts it can be touched up with the tip of a comb and some more bleech/colour to blend it in. Or a full head colour could be applied to cover it all up but applying colour to freshly bleeched hair is not a good idea.
The responsibility, financial responsibility belongs to the salon, not you, as you didn't go into the salon asking for the result you have now.

Is there not some kind of rinse they could do to tone it down a bit?

When my highlights become a bit much the hairdressers does some kind of brightening rinse which tones down the blonde.

Can't tell you what it's called because the name was in French.

Definitely think you should go back and just say you really liked it down but for the wedding it will be up, can we adjust it a little? (that's what I would say as a totally non-confrontational person)

You can put a 'Shader' on it just to brighten it temporarily, but longterm it will still be patchy.
