White facial fluff removal

I’ve got a big event coming up in a month at which I will be seeing several ExDH related people (him too) and am thinking hard about how I can look my best 😬
I know it shouldn’t matter but it does!

I will be posting about clothes shortly too 🤣

I’m post meno, so some of the hair on my face is white and fluffy, interspersed with thick black hairs - moustache area is darker while chin is still a mixture but mainly white fluff now. Few dark ones on my neck.

I’ve got pale skin, quite sensitive.

What’s the best way to approach this?
There’s not much time, so I will consider dermaplaning or even epilating at home - though I’d have to sort out the dark ones separately if I go that way.

I haven’t got loads of money but could spend some to have dermaplaning or buy a facial epilator or whatever turns out to be the best way.

Please tell me what has worked for you!

suggest you make an appointment with a beauty therapist rather than buy equipment, I have my lip and chin waxed regularly to banish the downy face fuzz that I think looks really ageing on older women, and they should also be able to deal with the more bristly hairs, tweezering them out initially and maybe suggesting some other treatment. I had some courses of electrolysis 20 years ago when I was in my 40s that was effective, there's probably a newer equivalent now

Simplest way is to gently run a new disposable razor across dry skin, having tweezered the dark hairs out first. Lasts for 2/3 weeks.

Both good suggestions, thank you!

I’ve had this all my life but only decided to trim it recently, just used scissors sideways on my skin. I googled and it says it’s a protective thing, maybe because I’m pale?

This should be perfect for what you want:

I’d suggest you do not use an ordinary disposable razor - life is complicated enough without introducing stubble to your face.

I use a disposable female razor (like Bic) on my facial peach fuzz every 2 to 3 weeks. I use it on dry skin like a previous poster recommended and shave down the way. It takes about 10 seconds, I never get cut, the hair just grows back the same way and make up goes on so well afterwards. I use the Amazon springy thing hair remover on my top lip though as shaving there makes the hairs come in blunter and more noticeable. I tweeze then use IPL laser on my black hairs.
I’m not sure what the difference is between a disposable shaver and the Tweezerman open blade thing recommended above. Both just cut the hair off bluntly.

Gettingbysomehow · 14/03/2026 11:50

I get mine waxed regularly.

Wordless · 14/03/2026 12:51

@sociableintrovert123 the Tweezerman thing isn’t a blade - it’s more like a tiny blunt comb, but sharp.

I cannot explain why, but years of experience enables me to state that using a razor blade results in the extremely disconcerting appearance of stubble. And using the Tweezerman does not.

(I am perfectly willing to believe this may be different for other people.)

Years of razoring peach fuzz away in seconds tells me you're wrong. As does science.

Wordless · 14/03/2026 13:52

Well, it’s my face that’s wrong. I’m just the messenger!

MoonEarrings · 14/03/2026 13:56

I guess everyone’s facial hair behaves differently!
Great suggestions thanks. Interesting that no one is suggesting epilating.

I have upper lip and chin wax with beauty therapist and she threads off the peach fuzz where needed.

If you are going to do it yourself use a dermaplaning razor not a bic type one. I personally apply facial oil and then dermaplane rather than do it dry.
