Buying trousers from the kids range: anyone else doing this?

Just bought a couple of pairs of trousers from Next in the kids range (after being influenced by TikTok!). They actually fit!!😁
Is this a thing we are doing? It was way cheaper and Im not tripping over the hems. Chuffed!

@henlake7 Are you a small size eg. 8 and with an athletic shape?

We don’t have a Next store in our seaside town and on Monday I took the train to go to Poole (Dorset) as I knew that Next has a petite section (and also New Look but they’ve sadly removed their petite section, apparently due to ‘lack of demand’).

The selection in the Petites section was minimal. I don’t know what they’ve done with their trousers but they are definitely much longer than they used to be…I have an inside leg measurement of 27”.

I asked the manager if all their Petite trousers and joggers are longer and he replied that the current trend is for longer lengths which trail on the ground! He added that customers who buy regular length trousers are currently buying the petite ones.

Unfortunately I’m a size 14 and post menopausal so I have a bigger waist and hips than teenage kids so I can’t buy the kids clothes in Next.

It was a wasted journey and I’m now having to revert to buying online….even our local M&S doesn’t stock Petites: I’m Extra Short in their sizes and annoyingly all the trousers I want to buy are out of stock.

If anyone knows which mid-range retailers have decent quality trousers/joggers which a max length of 27 to 28 inches (for people with larger hips and a waist)I’d be very glad to hear it!

I have a pair from H&M. I also have joggers from Primark and M&S, and leggings and tights from the supermarket.

Trousers don't work for me (hip waist ratio) but I have bought jumpers before. I'm a taller than average size 10 and I usually find age 14-15 fits best, so presumably size 12 women could buy age 15-16 - definitely not just for really really slim women.

If your feet are small, you should buy shoes from the children’s range.

I'm quite short and when I was slimmer I'd buy teenage boys' joggers for sports.

I've just bought a lovely pair of wide legged trousers from the kids section of Next. Age 16 and they fit my size 10, 5 foot 6 frame lovely. Only £12 compared to the similar £30+ ones from the Women's section.

I looked at a pair of jeans in M&S the other day - didn't have time to try them on. I'm 5' 6" and a size 8. They were age 15-16 and I'm fairly sure they would have been far too big in the waist/hips but ok length wise. I'm going to go back for a proper poke around a larger store as our local doesn't have a large kids range.

My mum is tiny and really struggles to buy trousers, funny enough I never even thought of kids ranges. Although she's in her 80s so the styles probably aren't what she likes.

@evilharpy , look at the size guide. I think I'm an age 13-14 in most of the children's clothes I have, and I'm an 8 with an inside leg of 29".

I also wear men's or boys' t-shirts. They're usually better quality.

Kids' shoes usually are not to my taste but I have boys' trainers.

I’ve never bought trousers but sometimes buy girl’s knitwear. In adult size I’m either a small or an extra small so it makes sense to sometimes buy from the girl’s range.
