How long for botox to leave your body?

Not really sure how to word the title apologies.

I have been getting one area (sides of eyes not 11 lines or forehead just eyes) every few months for approximately 10 years and decided recently I no longer want to get botox and currently still happy enough with how I look however I am unsure how long it takes to be botox free? Last time I got botox was in september of last year so would this be me now botox free or would it take longer for me to see the real me?

I don’t know the answer but your practitioner should; I would give them a call, otherwise we might all be speculating.

It is speculation or experience I am looking for. Ringing my practitioner to ask would result in my booking another appointment instead!

It’s not really a case of ‘leaving your body’. It’s not like a filler. It relaxes your muscles. Over the years, you’ve been doing the same facial movement over and over again, which leads to wrinkles. The Botox has stopped them from doing that so the creases are lessened for that period. Once you stop topping up, the muscles will work again and the wrinkles will come back and start getting deeper again due to the muscle movement. This could take a few months, or a few years depending on different factors.

I think I am more just wondering is this my 50 year old face now or not yet if that makes any sense? If I stayed looking this way for another year I think I could just completely give up the botox but if I start looking worse I will probably just go for another injection. Sounds rather vain I know.

I’m 50, at about 6 months I have full movement back in facial muscles, I’d say you are close to your actual face 😁 The Botox over the years will have stopped the lines getting worse along the way, so you won’t just age 10 years in 6 months, but everyone is different.

Thank you yes I was thinking that but I actually started getting botox all them years ago after a bout of facial palsy as it just made me feel awful about myself but maybe I didnt really need it physically as much as mentally so I am wondering now with the gap in years and the post menopausal mindset if I am actually seeing the real me again. If I could go back in time I never would have gotten any botox at all being honest but I cant take that back.
