Worried that if I start having ‘things done’ it’ll be a slippery slope

I have a big event later in the year and I want to look my best. I’ve got a couple of moles that I’m a bit self conscious about and I also hate my overplucked eyebrows so I’ve looked into getting microblading and the moles removed.

Neither would be cheap and I can’t really afford it but I’m also concerned that it will be the start of increasing dissatisfaction with how I look and constantly trying to ‘fix’ myself.

I’ve never been overly confident and now I’m starting to notice the signs of aging. I’d much prefer to accept them and grow old gracefully but it is tempting with all the different procedures available.

I worry that so many people rely on ‘a bit of this and a bit of that’ and those who don’t won’t compare favourably. But I don’t want the pressure of trying to fight the years - the people who love me are happy with me as I am but it’s hard trying to find a balance between feeling better about myself and going too far.

Ooh, I started a separate thread earlier but I'd like to pop into this one and ask if anyone has any recommendations for brow treatment (nanobrow) in the Sheffield/chesterfield area?

That might be my first step into the slippery slope!

I got a couple of moles removed (side of face - and neck,) about 10-11 years ago. They were so ugly, and as I hit early 40s they started to 'grow' and get darker and sprout hairs! 😬

It hasn't made me want to do anything else to myself. I felt - and looked - so much better afterwards. I was airbrushing the moles out before. Every photo from 2003-ish (when I discovered paint shop) to 2015 when I had them removed had the moles airbrushed out! It was only around 2010 that they started to really bother me, (as they looked so ugly and huge on HD photos!) but I was soooooooo glad to get rid of them.

edited to add: they were so ugly to ME. No-one else seemed bothered by them, but I loathed them!

I had a large mole next to my nose that I'd hated all my life, and a few years ago I got it removed. It's not completely gone, there's still a small fleshy bump, but it's not really noticeable unless you look closely. I also has braces in my early 20s. I have no plans to start microblading, botox or fillers. I only get my nails done for special occasions. I do dye my hair, but I'm thinking of stopping that as I'm sure my hair has sustained some damage from it. I'm 39 and plan to keep up skincare to stay looking reasonably good!

Very low tech and low cost option is dying eyebrows. I use Eyelure and it makes such a diference. I started it as I noticed a few grey eyebrows (which showed as mine are naturally very dark) but it grabs all the little ones so the brows look thicker and a better shape. Easy option to try and takes 15 mins.

I get my eyebrows and tash waxed professionally and I use this eyelure dye too. I am 60 and I never tried botox or filler as I am too scared after seeing the change in Lesley Ash many years ago. My hair is grey but I get lots of compliments about it as it is shiny, well cut and it has gone more of a platinum blonde shade.

i had a dental implant which makes me feel better. I have wondered about taking collagen but some swear by it but others are scathing. I would like to try a gentle teeth whitening treatment but I have sensitive teeth which I don’t want to get worse.

I think if you fancy it OP do your research and go for it.

I’ve always been tempted to get my eyebrows done! Mine are always OK, but not much definition, but I’m also worried I’ll get microblading and it will look ridiculous. Has anyone got any tips about making sure I get a nice natural look. Shape and hair are there just not definition 😂

I just got nanobrows at 45, absolutely love them and so much more natural looking than microblading.

I have had breasts done, a tummy tuck, and I’ve had Botox, filler and eyebrows microbladed, and lips tattooed. Things I regret are the breasts and the tummy tuck abd the microblading ( boobs are too big, tummy tuck wasn’t really necessary and very painful, microblading is blurred and grey). I don’t have the botox done any more and only have the filler in my cheeks. I actually think I’ve got more cautious as I’ve got older.

I’ve had my teeth straightened with Invisalign and have a bit of Botox now and again. Well worth it, and I have not yet developed the desire to do more. It defo makes me look a bit fresher and better, and why not. Go for it op.
