Replacement for Estée Lauder Doublewear Light

Hi

Since Estée Lauder double wear light I have fortunately been able to get it on eBay. However, it’s not been available for a while and I’m on my last tube.

The colour and formulation are perfect for me and I’m gutted!

Has anyone found a good replacement?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry I can’t link to it but there was a thread about this on S&B you might find useful.

The new double wear is a lightwr formulation than the older one. May be worth getting a sample. It needs layering to achieve it’s previous coverage.

realised the thread I was thinking of (started in early Feb) was just DW not DW light.

Hi OP. Since you loved that formula, let me tell you what to look for ingredient-wise to find something similar. You want foundations with film-forming polymers like acrylates copolymer or VP/VA copolymer that create long-wear staying power without feeling heavy. Look for cyclopentasiloxane or dimethicone high on the ingredient list since these give that smooth, silky application and semi-matte finish without being drying. For medium coverage that's buildable but not cakey, you want a good balance of iron oxides and titanium dioxide for pigmentation. The lightweight texture usually comes from emulsifiers like PEG-10 dimethicone or dimethicone crosspolymer that create that blendable feel. Hope this helps!

They’ve changed the formula?! 😱

Charlotte Tilbury beautiful skin is my replacement. You can still see skin not “a mask”, but the skin looks even…I use primer and setting spray and it lasts all day. I think I prefer it to EW, it has some skin improving properties in there that seem to work.

Seconding charlotte tilbury beautiful skin. Very flattering. Doesn’t look or feel like you’re wearing a mask. Much better than DW now I’m over 40.

How do you use all these? Toner, moisturiser, primer, the foundation itself, spray? I feel overwhelmed and hardly bother with anything other than a tinted moisturiser, mascara and blusher and want to try harder but I don't know where to start. I hate anything cakey, clarty or heavy.

Can’t answer for @BubbleBB but I do my skincare in the morning usually toner, vitamin c serum and a moisturiser then get dressed so it has time to sink in to my skin.
Primer then can be a good base ready for the foundation to glide easier on top. I find kabuki brushes make the biggest difference as well in how evenly it’s all applied.

I then do all make up except for my mascara and lip gloss and put the charlotte tilbury flawless setting spray over the top. Make up is not a chore for me though I genuinely enjoy doing it. It’s any sort of hair care I hate!

Well for me it’s out of necessity 😊….the primer and setting spray means that I can get away with one pump of the charlotte tilbury a day. It’s expensive and I wouldn’t be able to keep it up if I got through it any quicker. The primer means you use less because it allows the Charlotte tilbury to glide on top rather than use loads getting soaked into the skin, the setting spray means I don’t need to top up later on in the day….not that I would….i would just look like I wasn’t wearing anything by some point in the work day. I only started those extra things after Christmas and it feel like a small effort for big gains- cheapest way to wear expensive foundation and also the effort of putting on make up lasting all day. I know what you mean about cakey etc and I don’t feel like I’m wearing anything…the skin still shows through and breathes kind of like how a tinted moisturiser feels
but it looks more polished.
