Gum graft surgery

Not strictly speaking style and beauty, but does anyone have any recommendations for someone to do gum graft surgery, preferably in/around London. Private is fine.

And if you’ve had it done - how was the process in terms of pain afterwards, and did it work for you?

I had this done and am not sure it's actually worth it

It was quite painful afterwards, the stitches were very annoying

It doesn't really look that much different than it did

Thank you for replying, and I am sorry that it didn’t really work for you.

I’m not bothered about the appearance, as you can’t see it unless I pull my lower lip right down - but it’s got so bad that I am worried about losing teeth. So I need to have something done.

Any recs from anyone reading this who has some experience of gum grafts would be most gratefully received, as at the moment I am just googling to find names!

Highly recommend (outside of London but doable by train).

I had it done at the Brighton Implant Centre. Great prices and great work. I still drive down there from Somerset now Ive moved.
I found it painless.

Is this due to gum recession OP? Can't your dentist recommend someone or refer you to the dental hospital? Have you explored the reason you have this?

DH had gum bleeding and recession. His is genetic, not through lack of dental care. He was having cleaning at his dentist every 3mths, but it wasn't helping so she referring him to the dental hospital. He's been having very intensive cleaning there, antibiotics and special mouthwash and toothpaste. IF this doesn't help, his next step is a graft. We both work, aren't on benefits and this is all under the NHS. Sorry that I can't recommend someone private, but maybe explore what your own dentist can offer and if they could refer you.

I had one for a gap. Id had a tooth pulled 10 years ago at the back and there was nothing to anchor the dental implant to. It worked really well. They called it a sinus lift.

Thank you all so much for all the names and advice, I really appreciate it, and will check out the clinics.

I will ask my dentist about an NHS referral, thank you for that suggestion too - although if something can be done, it’d prefer it to be done sooner rather than later…not sure what waiting lists are like around my area(!)

I had gum grafts in 2 areas around 6 years ago. I couldn't be happier with the results. Before I had it done, I was so self conscious and would rarely smile in public.
I had grafts on the left and right sides at the same time, which made eating more difficult. It was uncomfortable for a few days, but not really painful, and I had some facial swelling.
I'm not exaggerating though when I say that it has made a huge difference to my self esteem. It has also held up really well - after 6 years it probably looks better than it did when it was first done.

My son had a gap in his gum so he had an alveolar bone graft last year. Not sure if that's similar. His surgeon is based in Bristol and he does nhs and private work.
