Hair Dryer recommendations

I think my Dyson is dying as it's spluttering and noisy, I cannot afford to buy a Dyson again although it has lasted 8 years, but any recommendations for a dryer under a £100 that is good for fine frazzled hair that is not too heavy or noisy please

Parlux, you can get some models for just under £100.

Get your Dyson repaired?

Not much over £100, I have the mdlondon one, it’s so light and great at drying hair, so fast!

I have a Laifen hairdryer which was bought for me. I’ve Never heard of them until now, but so far I’m very pleased with it. I’m told they’re a type of knock off Dyson, but I’ve never used a Dyson hairdryer so can’t compare. They’re definitely under £100.

Honestly - I had a tresse may - then got a Dyson hair dryer (went back to tresse may) then got the Dyson air wrap. But went back to tresse may. It is lightweight and great: and under £30 (link here with all the attachments but you can get it for less) https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChsSEwj_nejp24STAxWApYMHHbY8AmcYACICCAEQRhoCZWY&co=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_53o6duEkwMVgKWDBx22PAJnEAQYBCABEgIQCPD_BwE&cid=CAASb-Ro0uBX0dTsYBnF3lR1IcovmrjkUBbquqTK9eCwdTpHpkE9nR40EgN65qIbzDMlW632sFtoTFacMSzMYSVyzlT5Z6KkNFKoApxLDoFIlyiUWawXi7055p8CPUrXffK-1VJX6nkCK4eJioJz2cWjKg&cce=1&sig=AOD64_2bJS46sOBpRqmIbNiMOyJlCL8tzw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwiOzt_p24STAxVuBtsEHfqVI_EQwg8oAHoECCsQJQ&adurl=

I’ve just replaced my Dyson (that was bought as a gift about 8 years ago) with a Parlux. I’d had a Parlux before the Dyson for about 10 years. I’m really happy with my purchase. It’s got a stronger motor than the Dyson and I’ve not noticed difference in quality - the only consideration was it’s a bit heavier but I’ve not noticed it. I have very thick curly/frizzy hair that I diffuse or blow dry straight. It takes about 8 mins to do on both.

HighHeelsHurt · 03/03/2026 21:58

Just to add you can get your Dyson fixed for £99 if you look online as someone mentioned up thread. I didn’t realise this until I’d replaced it and hadn’t considered it as it’s so old

Get your Dyson repaired?

Having read some reviews it appears that if I send it back to Dyson they will say it's obsolete/can't be repaired and will offer me 10% of a new one, or I can send it off to an unknown person who advertises on eBay and pay £80 and I will be without a dryer for however long so it's just easier and more convenient to buy a new one.
