Deep plane face lift - advice from those that have had on recovery and result success stories

So I’ve decided to use some funds for a much needed refresh. It hurts my brain the cost, but I’m fed up of trying to do temporary measures over the last decade of thread lifts (I wouldn’t say they’re worth it at all), Botox, and filler just doesn’t cut it.

So am finally going to do it.

Had a recommendation from someone I know for a dr in Turkey, Istanbul (yes I know turkey has a bad reputation and when she said there, I just initially thought nooo). But he’s a double or triple board certified professor Dr, trainer of the technique to dr’s around the world etc. Only takes on patients who want a nice natural refresh. Nothing freaky.

The UK is so expensive and tbh I think the only person I’d let touch my face from researching is Dr Bray I think it is? If UK. And well, he’s far far out of my budget!

The Dr i had consultation with in Istanbul, Turkey suggested the following; (prices attached) 😮‍💨

Deep Plane Facelift with Extended Neck Dissection + Deep Neck Work through
Submental Incision (covers the droopy chin correction): 18800 Euro ( Stays as is)
Fat injection: 4100 Euro. 3.690 EUR
Upper eyelid blepharoplasty: 4100 Euro 3.690 EUR
Endoscopic browlift: 7500 Euro 6.750 EUR
Optional treatments:
Upper lip lift: 4100 Euro
TCA Peeling (35%): 900 Euro 810 EUR
TOTAL 33.740 EUR

(they give 10% reduction on the other combined treatments, listed after the main Deep Plane Facelift)

It’s a lot of money, and I thought long and hard.
But his much researched reviews and chatting to other patients I checked out for legitimacy online have had all happy results. Also my friend many years abo. And his price reflects the quality of his work. (Dr Ozcan Cakmak)

Can anyone share any before and afters of successful surgery they’ve had like this. Or how you found recovery?
Apparently it’s day of surgery overnight hospital stay and then discharged the following day. And looking to book air BnB apartment.
Thing is my daughter will have to come as have no one back home to look after her. And so will have to spend out on possibly some sort of fully vetted travel nanny to come either for the whole trip or half of it. If a friend can get the time off work to come for the first few days.

I’m wondering how many days after the op day am I going to be able to do atleast ‘some’ childcare within the apartment (as I’m sure I’ll look like a horror show and not be up to going out). From others experience.

And how soon others felt okay to go out for a wonder?

Will be out there for 10days. Arriving two nights before surgery day is a requirement for a day of pre op tests etc. Then surgery day, next day checked out of hospital. And then 4/5 days at air BnB before final check over from Dr and can leave.

Daughter is a toddler, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to lift her up until what day. Or if that’s all fine.
i had her late in life. I’m a late 40s and life’s not been kind to my face. So this is a much needed pick me up tbh.

Had breast uplift in past and cesearian and I just get on with it with pain and recovery. But not had surgery on face before, so I’m not sure what to expect with recovery.

It is a lot of money, and a recent study has just published saying that they only last 11 years. Will you be able to re do it then?
I had no idea they didn’t last very long, you have saved me bothering with looking further into a thread lift though!

Have you looked into fully ablative CO2 laser? It’s under general anaesthetic and has far better results than the non ablative CO2 laser. The recovery is brutal, but I’ve been following a nurse on TikTok who looked an old 55, but now looks about late 30’s. She’s been posting her recovery step by step and she looks amazing!

How does the travel insurance work OP, I just updated mine for a change in medical information and one of the many questions fired at me was whether I was going abroad for a medical procedure, which Im not

But Ive often thought about a face lift too and obviously its cheaper abroad, I thought you werent meant to fly or travel aftr a GA?

Letsformanallegiance · 04/03/2026 05:44

I had a deep plane FL, neck lift, temporal lift, upper bleph and buccal fat removal exactly a year ago with Dr Sonar in Istanbul. I paid about 8000 Euros.

I look incredible to be fair. I was below average before and now I get showered with compliments. It’s been life changing and transformative. I’d been through horrific abuse from my ex and it aged me a lot. I looked late 50’s before and I now look mid 30’s. I was 45 when I had it done.

Recovery was hard and I was in bed for 2/3 weeks even though I had to fly home on day 10 I think. My friend picked me up from the airport. I didn’t respond well to the anaesthetic and got a bit shouty whilst in Istanbul which was out of character.

I also got a UTI from the catheter which definitely made it harder. (And my eyes looked pulled for a few months. So be prepared.)

I certainly couldn’t have done any childcare during the first few weeks. I felt rotten. I tired very easily and slept tons. You aren’t recommended to even put your head at a downwards angle so picking up your toddler would be hard and not recommended. It puts pressure on the wounds. So take advice around that. I’m fit and healthy usually so don’t think my recovery was harder than average.

No problems with recovery longer term and scars healed well.

Hope that helps and best of luck. You can hire private staff to help with your daughter. It shouldn’t cost too much.

Monsterslam · 04/03/2026 06:29

I think you're insane wanting to take a toddler out to live with a random nanny while her mum looks like she's been mangled and unrecognisable for weeks. Your dd is going to have no idea what is happening.

What if you get an infection? Or there is a complication with surgery and she's just alone in turkey with a nanny who presumably could just decide to ditch her to local authorities and walk away?

autumn1610 · 04/03/2026 06:46

Not a facelift but had surgery on my neck and around my ear mostly one side and Jesus it put me off any plastic surgery, I kept saying how do people do this voluntarily. Granted pain may have been worse due to the surgery . I was recovering for around 4 weeks before I started part time back at work then 6 before full time. Scars have almost healed a year on

Miyagi99 · 04/03/2026 09:55

I wouldn’t leave my child with anyone but family if I was going for surgery, at home or abroad. What if the worst happened? Or you got an infection and were admitted for a week? It’s way too risky. That’s anlso why I wouldn’t have any cosmetic surgery while my children are young. Apart from that, if you have the money and you’ve done your research then obviously it’s up to you.

Update - gave my head a wiggle and decided not to.

Reason for wanting to get it done is had one side face drop in late thirties. Bells Pawsy apparently but think it was down to stress of work at the time. And been fed up of the ‘up keep’ of lifting that side of face to feel normal again. It’s external.. who cares. Like I said gave my head a wiggle mentally and thought does it really matter in life right now in grand scheme of things. The answers No.

With regard to childcare, one of LO’s previous ad hoc nanny / wrap around care person offered to come (LO adores them). As was initially going to go through agency used when LO was newborn and needed some emergency help for couple weeks when unwell back then, agency i trust. But like some posters replied. I want to explain to my LO why and what and have her fully more grown up of if I do this. And will go with someone like her old ad hoc nanny we had I trust implicitly for a trip like this.

Have stopped facial cosmetic short term fixes slowly over this year and letting my face go slowly back to its dropped side and my daughter will get used to that. And see how I feel about that.

Do I want to feel better about myself, yes.
But there’s way more important things in life.

@advicepls1234 have a look at Coppergate Clinic in York. My sister had a deep plane face lift there with Dr Nick Rhodes and she looks great. Quite a few of her 'Cheshire Set' friends have had procedures there. The Clinic has also had a few recommendations on other MN threads.

That’s a ridiculous amount of money OP. You could get that way cheaper in Eastern Europe. I’d not get anything done in Turkey.

doublec · 04/03/2026 20:40

It's generally advised that if one wants a face lifts, to avoid filler and thread lifts at all costs. In fact the more tweakments, the more they compromise the end result.
Am also concerned by all the upselling the surgeon is doing, more so given they've not you in person.
I know I wouldn't be comfortable letting anyone operating on me, particularly my face, without an in-person face-to-face consultation. And I say this as someone who underwent two separate surgeries (albeit x2 mastectomy), but there's no way I would have consented to anything without meeting the surgeon several time prior to each surgery and discussing things thoroughly/having a proper consultation. But, that's just me.
Also, I had a few issues post-surgery where I had to go into see a nurse. What will you do if you have post-surgery issues when you're back in the UK? Many NHS trusts won't see patients who have had cosmetic surgery abroad.

paddleboardingmum · 04/03/2026 22:07

I think you made a good decision not to go ahead with this OP. That would pay for a lot of holidays/clothes/anything else.

Allseeingallknowing · 04/03/2026 22:12

OP the prices in Turkey don’t seem cheaper than the U.K.

Justbreathagain · 04/03/2026 22:44

Each to their own but I think your mad. All the horror stories of cosmetic surgery done in turkey. They always start with he had a good reputation, lots of people saying how good the results were ... Don't do it OP. if you really want some things done, do it in the UK.

Monsterslam · 05/03/2026 06:21

If this is to correct facial changes from bels palsy then get back to the GP and ask for an NHS referral.

Sounds as if it was more than that, OP wanted a refresh, and a deep plane lift is drastic.

It’s too long a wait, plus it’s seen as cosmetic to some GP’s. In past id rather have paid for the uplifting of the side affected than be waiting and waiting on the nhs.

That seems quite expensive! Are you sure you need all of that done?? What about the DPFL only? I had one in Turkey, Dr Soner in Istanbul I can highly recommend him. I am 46 and my face is pretty much fully recovered I went in July last year the only part still recovering is my neck feels a bit numb and tight but completely normal healing at this stage. Mine cost me about £8500
