What is this style of trousers called and how do I find something similar for 5% of the price

I need a pair of smart black work trousers. I’ve never owned smart black trousers before. Post pregnancy and massive weight loss I’ve been living in jeggings and one pair of black jeans and it has to stop. I really like the barrel jean trend but lots of my tops are cut baggier so I need a pair of bottoms that are tighter fitting. I’m not in the market for a £650 pair of dry clean only Margaret Howell trousers but this picture is basically my dream trouser. But what is it? How do I google it and find cheap versions? All the web page says is that it’s “relaxed fit”. Is it high rise? What is the name for the thing it’s doing over the lower leg and the shoe? Any advice from wise trouser wearers gratefully received.

I don’t think those trousers are flattering at all! They give off Charlie Chaplin vibes! Try mini flare or straight cut instead.

I think they are very flattering and very current. I much prefer the ops than mini flare or straight cut now. I’d not go to those Styles for smart trousers any more. I am in my 5os and prefer to keep a nod to current, and as I’m slim with long legs trousers like the ops work like a dream on me.

I got a pair of similar ones about 20 years ago. I love them, I can’t quite get the same fit or look. I’ve lost weight so can fit back in them.

I think they’re a certain look which if you’re not keen on it, you won’t like. Likewise I’m not keen on the cuts you mention, they’re more mainstream than the sort of vibe I like and I always feel like I’ve stepped out of the next catalogue.

I also own the Cos ones and agree, they are great. I've been wearing mine a lot this winter and they are very good quality (but also are dry clean and I haven't tried washing them yet).

I've also got a similar pair from Arket - these are a slightly lighter fabric as the weather warms up.
