Eyelash serums & treatments

I used to have lovely eyes but post-chemo and peri my lashes just aren't the same. I got a lash serum (champo pitta) in an advent calendar and have been using it most days, but it hasn't really made a difference.

Are there any prostaglandin free lash serums that really work? Or should I go for a tint & lift? Or just accept how my lashes are now?

I think it doesn't help that I keep comparing to pre-chemo photos, because that's before I lost them, but it was also a few years ago so I was younger! Is this just something that happens in your 40s and I should accept it gracefully? (I'm 45)

I use UKLash which really works and they do a prostaglandin free one too but I’ve not tried that. Post chemo I did use Revitalash but that is eye wateringly expensive (excuse the pun) and UKLash is the only other I’ve found to work. You do have to have patience though. I think it’s 4-6,weeks, weeks before you see any difference, 8-12 for maximum effect and you have to use it daily.

Have you had any side effects from the prostaglandin and does it worry you? I've been too scared to try it.

I'm now remembering that I think I did try uk lash and possibly also revitalash when I was first growing the hair back and they possibly did work, but then probably my hair would have grown back regardless. And I was scared off when I read about prostaglandins.

Maybe I haven't given my current one long enough, I think I've only been using it for about a month

I use a prostaglandin. No issues at all. Just really long lashes. I mean to use it every night, but in fact use it probably 3x a week. I never bother taking it on holiday and my eyelashes haven't fallen out after two weeks! I use bimatroprost. People put this in their eyes everyday for glaucoma. I put it smidge on my lashes occasionally. All good.

I haven’t had any issue with the prostaglandin one and I’ve used it daily for two years.

I had the same thoughts as you after chemo and ended up thinking they would have grown back anyway. They would but with Revitalash they were very long. In fact I stopped using it on my lower lashes as I ended up looking like Betty Boop!

Having said that when I stopped using it I ended up with stubby sparse eyelashes so searched round for something less expensive than Revitalash. UK Lash came on recommendation and I’ve not met anyone who uses it who has been unhappy with the results.

I've used Revitalash and UK Lash. I think Revitalash is better, but as above, more expensive. I used it to make a lash lift look better rather than to help my lashes grow, and I've not used any serums for at leats 6 months, they look quite boring and stubby now lol! It's sightly cheaper in the US if you know of anyone going over who can bring you some back.

I've stopped for a bit as my lashes were getting itchy (I think that was after a lift treatment rather than the serum), but might start up again soon - I'm having a lash lift next week, so may start the treatment up after that.

Ok I think I'm going to give uk lash a try

I’m a Revitalash girl and never any issues with prostaglandins. No eyelid darkening or eyes changing colour, nothing at all. Been using it about 14 years on and off.

I’ve tried others but come back to Revitalash. It’s the only spendy beauty thing I do so worth it to me.

WhiskyandWater · 27/02/2026 22:14

Agree Revitalash is amazing but it did darken my eyelids. I ended up looking like I’d rubbed the lids as they were a reddish colour all the time - almost like I’d put an eyeshadow on. I’ve not used for a bit now and they have faded back to normal colour, I can’t decide if I’d rather have the lovely lashed and dodgy eyelids or shit lashes and normal skin.

Hi OP. I hope you're doing better. As for prostaglandin-free lash serums, the reality is that peptides, biotin, and botanical extracts can help condition and strengthen existing lashes, but they won't create dramatic regrowth the way prostaglandin analogs do. Look for ingredients like peptides, panthenol, or castor oil. A lash tint and lift could be a really good option for making your current lashes look fuller. The lift opens up your eyes and the tint adds definition, which can make a big visual difference!

@namechange0998776554799000 try sweed serum. Not cheap, but it is very effective. Prostaglandin free. Once they’ve reached a good length try an eyelash lift and tint, it’s amazing the difference it makes to getting ready quickly.
