Hi, may be going back into an office for work for a professional role I've been remote working for a very long while.

What are peole wearing as footwear, am in my mid 50s and have comfy trainers or boots...any ideas as spring is arriving?

Thanks.

Depends on your dress code, mine is quite formal so I couldn’t wear trainers, I usually do ballet flats.

Look at Kurt Geiger/Carvela for smart affordable flats for the office. They last too…

I wear heels every day and love them. I get it most won’t but a wedge heel can be comfortable. I wouldn't wear trainers in an office - too casual in my book.

It huuugely depends on the company. In most places I’ve worked, jeans and trainers are the expected look, but that’s perhaps industry specific.

Personally I deviate from the dress code and wear low heels or ballet flats, sometimes ankle boots or high heels. But I think unless it’s customer facing like a retail bank etc, it may be considered a tad old fashioned. In any group, I’m always the most overdressed one. When I wear heels in London, I really stick out.

Cant think of many environments unless customer-facing where non-flat shoes would be widely worn.

If you want to wear nice shoes, go for it - you can keep a few pairs under your desk, in an office job your step count is realistically low, so you don’t have to wear trainers or sandals if that’s not your thing.

Thanks for all the responses very helpful.
unfortunately I didn’t get the job so I won’t need new footwear just yet…
It is so disheartening trying to find work in your mid 50s.

Bad luck.

Just make sure you have something up to date looking ready for the next interview. Take advantage of the remaining sales rather than leaving it till the last moment.
