WFH Wardrobe inspo

Shabang21 · 17/02/2026 22:10

I am (finally!) starting my actual dream job, and I’m so excited for it. Howevs, it’s WFH 90% with the odd day a month in the office. I have never WFH before except in covid, when I spent most of my time in PJ bottoms and a filthy jumper, as I wasn’t often on teams.

I have tons of corporate clothes, but not much casual, and I would really love to nail a polished but still comfy look while working from home (lots of teams calls in new job). Like, I feel like I’ll need to wear something other than my crappy leisure clothes or I won’t feel productive- does that make any sense?!

So yeah, would really love some inspo for what you wear on your WFH days please!

Erm, totally not what you’re after 😂
I do not go for a polished look but I’m always in clean clothes now when I wfh. Clean joggers and a clean sweatshirt mostly.
I wfh solidly for a couple of years and felt very slobby and would wear the same joggers 3 days in a row at times.
now I’m hybrid so have a couple of days in the office and a few at home, i always get dressed properly so if I need to go out I can and do to make the most of my lunchbreak without needing to get changed. If I’m going to the gym at lunch I’ll just get dressed straight into my gym stuff first thing.
I’m not generally ‘dressed up’ to spend the day sitting in my home office though.

CarrierbagsAndPJs · 17/02/2026 22:15

I dream of wfh. I am building up my wardrobe with co-ords (trousers and tops) that are as comfortable as pyjamas.this type of thing:

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/02/2026 00:01

I only do one day a week at home, but at this time of year I tend to wear jeans, nice knitwear, usual makeup, and usual jewellery - essentially as if I was going out for lunch or something. I can’t work in pjs, leggings, joggers type of clothes, but I do usually wear my Birkenstock shearling slippers. My DP is also WFH on my home day, so we often do go out for lunch (just pop out for a sandwich or similar before the anti-WFH brigade turn up!).

My WFH day is a Friday. Last Friday I wore stripy blue jeans from Damson Madder, a white Uniqlo t-shirt, and a green M&S cardigan. When we went out I put on some Adidas Spezials. Our house can be cold so I often layer a Uniqlo heat-tech top underneath.

MidnightMeltdown · 18/02/2026 00:55

This will last for a couple of weeks. You’ll want to be in joggers and a jumper in no time 😂

RobinTheCavewoman · 18/02/2026 06:30

Leggings, heattech socks and a sweatshirt in a colour that suits me. I put a necklace on if I'm feeling fancy, and notice I feel a bit better staring at my face with concealer and mascara. More warm and comfy than polished.

Plasticdreams · 18/02/2026 06:36

jumper dresses are good in the winter months, with uggs, and then I can just pop on some knee length boots if I’m going out somewhere. www.boden.com/products/women-merino-knitted-dress-navy-d1116nvy

NewYearNewMee · 18/02/2026 06:42

Matching active wear sets (lululemon, alo etc) because the matching makes it feel put together and you can throw a cardigan on if you need to for a call, matching cashmere / wool / cotton sets too (white company, H&M etc) and oversized pants with t-shirts. Honestly the co-ord is such a winner, the variety of materials makes it appropriate for all seasons and the fact they match and look cute helps too! I also make sure I do my hair / makeup (minimal) each day, wear my jewellery etc.

It makes it feel like I can switch from home
to work mode when I change outfits so I can switch off at the end of the day!

fiorentina · 18/02/2026 07:03

I tend to wear an outfit I might wear to meet friends. Decent jeans, in winter a stylish jumper and summer a blouse or nice top. Always some jewellery and usually make up.

I want to still look put together on Teams meetings and still feel professional. For me leisure wear or a tracksuit doesn’t help me feel this way.

Frenchfrychic · 18/02/2026 07:09

I work from home and used to always wear stretchy black shit due to my weight, I lost the weight and bought far too many new clothes, most from vinted, and I wear something lovely every day,

I wear a lot of Reiss, Massimo Dutti, and me and em , normally tailored track pants /wide leg trousers with draw string/elastic waist, woolen sleeveless vests, cashmere slouchy jumpers, fitted long sleeve tops, it’s all comfortable with give, and I wear them in soft pale colours, tan, cream, pale pink, sea green etc, with some navy.

so I’d say look at vinted, filter for the brands you like, use new or very good condition and have a look.

I find getting up, showering, doing my hair and some light make up, and wearing something lovely I feel good in sort of sets me up for the day, and I am ready if I need to switch the camera on,

eventhekitchensink · 18/02/2026 07:16

I tend to wear leggings in the morning and jeans in the afternoon, as I work out at lunchtime and it saves a bit of time getting changed.

As my top half is obviously visible, I make slightly more effort and wear something that looks smartish. So a collared shirt, pretty top or plain fine knit jumper with a nice necklace. I always have earrings and makeup on. I would be very unproductive in joggers and actually I like being able to differentiate work and chill out clothes!

janedoe26 · 18/02/2026 07:21

Blazers are the answer. Wear whatever bottom half you like with a smart tshirt or jumper depending on time of year then keep a smart blazer on the back of your chair for meetings. I find strong block colours look best on teams calls and keep a black blazer handy but I also have some bright blazers that look great with black or white tops. Good lighting (clip ring light is a game changer) and some makeup helps too, more than I would wear in person is better on camera.

CortieTat · 18/02/2026 07:58

I wfh often and have for a very long time. I always dress like for the office, which is casual anyway (not a corporate job) but I never wear tracksuit bottoms and such. I love accessories and I wear them when wfh. I change into leggings and a top when I’m done working.
I really recommend this approach, it helps to keep work separate from the rest of the day. Putting some effort into planning an outfit every day is also great for my wellbeing, even if I don’t have any meetings I still try to make sure that I look put together, for myself.

FinallyHere · 18/02/2026 08:18

Hybrid, WFH I wear the same tops (and appropriate necklace) that I would wear in the office on my top half. Colour coordinated leggings or cycle shorts on my bottom half depending on the weather. Rely on Teams soft focus rather than makeup.

That wouldn’t work for me, and I’m in corporate, we would all find it very strange if people were sitting there with their coats on at home.

HEC2746 · 18/02/2026 08:25

Knitwear, lots and lots of knitwear. I like jumpers that have a bit of pattern and colour and don’t make me look washed out. Sometimes a long necklace as well. Your bottom half can obviously be whatever you want that’s comfy to sit in all day. I spend a huge amount of my day on Teams in meetings or doing training so I often have a full face of make up and bright lipstick, again so I don’t look washed out, and recently bought a ring light too. I prefer to look like I’m “at work” unless it’s a day I’m literally focused on project work.

dudsville · 18/02/2026 08:31

My job is professional but not corporate, we all stopped wearing suits 20 to 30 years ago. I've worked from home a lot since the pandemic. I tried once to do the super casual joggers and tee, but it just isn't me. I didn't feel ready for the day. So I'm always showered and dressed. In summer, I have dresses that are loose and flowy. They're woven cotton, so they have to be ironed, and therefore look a little smarter. I have elastic waist band skirts of the same fabric, and lose footing trousers, either woven cotton or corduroy. These are as comfortable as joggers but smarter. Even if no one knows what I'm wearing on my bottom half, I feel better. For tops, in winter I have a range of smart wool jumpers, and in summer a range of smart woven cotton tops. I don't mind ironing.

Shabang21 · 18/02/2026 10:00

Thank you all so much! I do have a ring light (somewhere, think my child may have stolen it for the ‘gram) so I’ll hunt that down.

I don’t think I’ll feel productive if I’m in leisure wear, my leggings are a magnet for the sofa, so I’m going to pop on Vinted now and have a search for some comfy wide leg trousers. Will still wear my slippers though. I also feel like I want to ‘change’ out of work clothes at the end of the day, so I’ll save my leggings for then. I do have a tidy bit of knitwear, but all my trousers are either proper smart trousers or leggings/scruffy jeans, so I think that’s where I’m lacking.

And yes @MidnightMeltdown you may well be right, but at least I’ll look banging for a fortnight 😁

Interesting how different places are. There are are load of lovely slouchy blazers out there, doesn’t have to be full formal suit jacket but I do feel much more put together on camera when I pop it on over my jumper for a client meeting, when interviewing or to present at anything. It’s not a requirement and I am mostly in jumper or regular top for the normal calls during day with my team as well as jeans and chunky slippers 95% of the time. I don’t expect my whole team to do it,
we are client facing in the main so no hoodies or slogan T-shirts etc, otherwise it’s pretty relaxed, but most of the senior managers will pull on a jacket of some kind for the scenarios above. I like it as it reminds me I am still in a professional role not just dossing around in my jammies. It’s quite nice to have the distinction and swap for my hoodie when I log off to draw a line under my working day.

dudsville · 18/02/2026 11:23

Oh absolutely @shebang, I have wool socks, wool slippers, or just clogs or sandals.

During the pandemic I changed my entire wardrobe. Everything I own now is smart casual, and everything is very comfortable. I don't have to change when I finish a work day.

For me I don't have the draw towards the tee shirt and legging combo anymore because I don't feel they look good on me, and I didn't feel comfortable nipping to the shops, answering the door, etc. I was tired of looking in the mirror and being a little disappointed. Now, everything I have can be worn to any event - work, day trip, holidays, sofa days, dinners out, etc., and as I go about my day I really enjoy the look of the things I'm wearing and this gives me a boost. Good luck with your vinted search!

Twilightstarbright · 18/02/2026 12:14

I notice I’m less productive in gym gear so try to dress differently for WFH. Today I’m in an Oliver Bonas cotton midi dress with a fitted cardigan (ie not one that could be a dressing gown) and Uggs in my feet for warmth. Tinted moisturiser and a red lip.

StylishAndBeautiful · 18/02/2026 14:31

Bottoms: regular at home ones like leggings or joggers.

Tops: block colours - different colours. Try not to wear a similar top (e.g. black or navy t-shirt or hoodie) two days running. Bright colour look better.
I 'shopped my wardrobe' for the clothes that look nice on the hanger but look rubbish on me. They often look nice when I'm sitting down.
vary necklines (crew/roll/cowl/scarf) etc.

Wear make up. You don't need much unless you want to.

FeelingALittleWoozyHere · 18/02/2026 14:35

I live in good quality leggings (usually Lovall) and a cropped cotton jumper (usually uniqlo). If I have an important call I might put a nice cashmere jumper on. When it gets warmer I'll generally wear a fitted t shirt with whatever is comfortable on the bottom (maybe shorts). I find as long as i am showered, in clean clothes, and have done my skincare routine, I am in work mode

Ah if client facing that’s different,
