Mother of the Groom Outfit for Unpredictable Weather

Yet another mother of the groom outfit thread. DS is getting married mid-April. It's in the UK. Registry office ceremony then meal afterwards. Relatively low key. I'm struggling to decide what to go with given that it could be lovely and sunny or it could be pouring with rain and cold (My partner's birthday is 2 days later, so I know some years we've eaten outside in the warmth and other years it's been freezing). Any ideas?

Late 50s, 5 foot 10, size 10.

Go with the outfit you would wear for a sunny day but ensure you have layers you can add for warmth e.g. a cashmere wrap, cardi or poncho. Maybe a special umbrella in case of rain. Graham and Green do a pink flamingo Mary Poppins one though this may be a bit too tropical!:https://www.grahamandgreen.co.uk/flamingo-umbrella

Flamingo Umbrella | Graham & Green

Feel like a tropical Mary Poppins with this ruffled pink umbrella.

I think it’s probably safest to plan shoes and a jacket first and then work from there - and buy a pretty umbrella!

eg if casual, I have a dusty pink All Saints leather jacket, or a black one or an aubergine one so would probably start with one of those and find a dress to go with it. I’d also be quite happy to wear heeled ankle boots rather than sandals. I’d want a dress with short or three quarter sleeves, I think. Could then easily lose the jacket if needsbe.

And if it rained, I’d be Uber-ing all day!

Fulton do a red, heart-shaped brolly - too cheesy?!

Assuming you are not going to be outside a lot I would buy a spring wedding outfit that you like and order a coat or jacket and brolly that you can return if you end up not needing it.
