Prosthetic free?

Does anyone here, with a single mastectomy ever go prosthetic free? So sick of them never fitting in my pockets and so expensive. I’ve finally settled on the M&S ones but still have the not fitting and overheating issue. I have sometimes used a balled up sock as it is more comfortable. When I’m swimming, I use a shower puff.

I don’t wear one on my wfh day and I am so comfortable. I wear the m& flexi fit bra with the hook on the straps which means my line boob is supported but the material on my flat side is pulled in flush, or a tight bralette.

I am now considering not bothering at all, even at work, but a little concerned what other people might think.

Hi, I don’t have any personal experience to share but just wanted to recommend Future Dreams charity which has regular post-surgery workshops & will have advice on this. Have a look at their website.

I haven't worn a prosthesis for years. I am in Australia and there is a group of ladies who make "knitted knockers" which are fine for a special occasion. Also Medicare pays $400 per prosthesis every 2 years.

I have a knitted knocer, but again, it’s hot to wear.

Not me but an acquaintance does. I only found out she had cancer when I ran into her at the supermarket and she was wearing a fitted top and one side was flat. I suppose it’s just a bit awkward when they you see someone for the first time who didn’t know as one can hardly ignore it but what do say? ‘Hi Mary haven’t seen you for ages and I’m so sorry …’? Then they have to address it rather than perhaps trying to move on and just live their life.

A friend of mine never bothers.
She always looks amazing but yes one side of her chest is flat, which she says makes clothes not always hang right which sometimes frustrates her but she cba with prosthetic or reconstruction. I dont think its really that obvious, especially at casual glance, depends on clothing, layers etc
She is really ballsie tbh shes been through a lot of stuff as well as cancer and she decided, for her, in the grand scheme of things having matching boobs isnt important.
Just do whatever feels best for you.
