Brands you associate with ‘chic’

I’m about to have my final baby and feeling very sluggish in my rotation of about 4 maternity tops.

When I finish stop breastfeeding and go back to work after maternity leave I’d like to get myself some new bits and pieces to feel more smart and put together.

I work in a tech company where noone is really wearing suits or anything like that to the office, so can be a bit more casual.

Whenever I browse a thread here there are always a bunch of brands I’ve never come across before with good recommendations so I’m hoping to benefit from your collective knowledge.

My budget is probably around Whistles/Reiss at best, not designer, but preferably more towards Zara levels!

I’d make Brand Alley your new best friend!
I was going to answer Me+Em (but a bit more expensive full price), then Sezanne and Aligne for more casual or mix and match.

Generally, if you want chic, you need good classics. Then it’s how you pull them together. It’s a total look, not just one or two items of clothing. I find good ideas from Red magazine and they also recommend high street buys. Getting discounted designer items is always fun, but it’s a bit of a lottery. Also clock who you think looks chic and why. I admire the cream/camel/caramel look and that’s fairly easy to replicate. Greys are easy too. Grey flannel trousers and a darker or lighter cashmere top. Add a big coat with greys in it, and add colours with a bag and shoes and scarf. Colour blocking is easy enough to replicate without spending a fortune.
