I meed new shoes but suffer from planctar facilitis additionally due to other (undiagnosed but under investigation) foot.issues i cannot wear covered shoes like boots, laceups or trainers

I fond it a struggle to find shoes that looks ok that are ok to walk around in. I came across the penny shoe and wondered if anyone had tried them with PF?

Other ideas welcome within my restrictions

I think I might have tried these on but, as with all ballet style shoes with my wide feet, they cut into my foot at the base of my toes. There are new ‘Mary-Jane’ style shoes in fashion at the moment. They have the style of a Mary-Jane with the comfort of a trainer. If you google them you’ll see the styles.

My late sister was a podiatrist and when I had plantar fasciitis she analysed my gait and made some bespoke insoles to wear in my shoes. Her recommendation was to wear a shoe with a low heel (2-3 cm) or FitFlops.
After a winter of wearing the insole in my winter shoes it did the trip.

Interestingly, I wear crocs for work and they really eased the pain while I was wearing them but it came back when I put on normal shoes. I triggered the PF wearing Converse all day in the summer.

I also buy the silicone gel filled arch supports and stick them in all my flat shoes.

I now wear crocs at home all the time. I haven’t had a recurrence of the PF for a couple of years but I’m now post menopausal and I’ve heard it’s common in peri menopause ( no idea why), so maybe I’m less likely to get it.
