Can you help with some wardrobe inspo for new body shape?

I’m 60, 5 ft 1 and had a breast reduction. Gone from a massive matronly boob shelf to lovely tiny breasts. I really want some new clothes but I’ve spent my whole life wearing things to disguise my boobs and now I’m just not sure where to start. I’m a size 10 bottom and was size 16 top but think I’m now a 10. Not quite ready to measure and buy but would love some help with window shopping for looks . Mainly just going out shopping, coffee type garb but also some going out somewhere in the evening things. Main wardrobe is apricot and white stuff, mainly as they are quite generous in the top tailoring, but open to any suggestions .

Congratulations on the breast reduction,
Do you know what body shape you are? Eg a triangle/apple/pear etc? I’m an inverted triangle. I have broad shoulders and not much of a waist but good legs. I buy my clothes based on my body shape.

Someone recommended using Pinterest on here for browsing looks, so I now have a folder specifically for looks I like.

Surely the whole point of the thread is that the OP’s body shape has changed to the extent that she never needs to think about it again? She now has the freedom to wear anything built on a petite scale (whether by design or alteration) without restriction.

This must be wonderful for you, @3smallpups. My first thought is - are you an Industry fan? I’d strongly suggest you watch Season 4 with a close eye on Harper’s wardrobe. The costume department has had a field day, kitting her out in swoon-worthy business and casual clothes, mostly of a type - voluminous coats and wide trousers - that this board would have you believe no one of 5’1 should attempt. She looks utterly fabulous.

Beyond that, how do you want to dress? I’m sure you must have other ways to spend your time beyond shopping and coffee, but even for those activities there's an infinity of options and choices. Athleisure or ladylike? Academic or goth? Tweedy or leather, or both, And, of course, unless your evenings are very specific, daytime casual wear merges into gig/ theatre / opera / cocktail dressing.

And you’ve mentioned places you’ve bought from in the past, but what sort of budget are you considering for your new wardrobe? High St or Net-a-Porter?

For an overview of some of the best of what’s in shops now you could start with

which covers every price point from supermarket to couture. Then investigate any brands that appeal to you and look as if the scale of their clothes would work. (Bearing in mind that almost anything can be tailored to fit.)

Exciting venture!

Actually, you must be longing to try out tiny, body skimming tops like these:

(All brands with brilliant design, worth spending time on their sites for inspiration or buying.)

I would be thinking of a french gamine look. Fitted stripy tops and white shirts, chanelesque cropped jackets that button right up, trenchcoat, scarf at the neck, that kind of thing. Enjoy! I'm a bit jealous as I long to be a 34b again, even weightloss did help much.

So helpful all thank you

@Tocsin havent seen industry but now’s a great time to start while incapacitated!
most of my spare time is looking after, riding and competing horses so day to day it’s leggings , base layers , omg I can wear a base layer without something over the top now !
otherwise veering to the dark academia , actually that’s a thought I’ve seen a fabulous company on this board and looked at it but was too fitted, will look again , or tweedy rather than biker.

pinterest great idea.

Try on some dresses!!!

DancehallDays · 11/02/2026 08:07

I'd be looking at lovely vintage fitted jackets - tweeds and velvets - to celebrate no more straining buttons and baggy waists because you have to buy three sizes too large to accommodate your bust!

I would love a breast reduction.

itsgettingweird · 11/02/2026 08:12

Awwww congratulations on the reduction.

on your situation if he a personal shopping experience if finances allow.

You have a whole new lease of life and should embrace it!
