Looking for Loafers help

My DD is off on a long weekend school choir trip next weekend and she needs smart black shoes to go with wide legged trousers for her performances.

She decided black patent loafers with a slightly chunky heel and a gold buckle would be perfect.
they need to comfortable enough to wear all day not just for the performances. Happy to spend up to £75 as they can be worn as school shoes afterwards.
We have exhausted our local shopping centre and come away empty handed.
We are struggling with the fit mostly - she has quite slim feet I think and a high instep - so lots of them Slip off her heels/ will rub - lots of them aren’t real leather and the patent has no give so that won’t be helping !
Can anyone help with a recommendation or an alternative style even at this stage ?
I am losing the will to live and we do t have much time left !
these look perfect but aren’t a good fit at all and slide off the heel.

Dune usually have some and they tend to.come up small.

NewYearNewMee · 04/02/2026 16:47

ASOS have loads in that sort of style normally, from all sorts of brands - I’d check there too.

StylishAndBeautiful · 04/02/2026 16:55

Loafers are probably not the best shoes for wearing all day or for young feet.
I'd look for a pair of shoes that lace up.

I think I must have a very similar shape foot as your daughter! My instep is so high I can’t wear wellies as I can’t get my foot in. But Clark’s shoes fit me well and I’ve got a pair of loafers from them , no buckle but quite nice leather. They’re really comfortable

Thanks all - she is still determined to find the loafer style so I am looking and shown her all suggestions- I just fear that fit wise they might not work

Try Geox, they have lots of different loafer styles.

Jones bootmaker sell lots of different brands. Sort through them online.

I think you'll pay £70 for unwearable shoes. I'd get practical school shoes or comfortable shoes for walking around all day and maybe a pair of cheap plastic loafers for the shows.

Thanks for this I will revisit Clarks though nothing jumped out at me originally.

comfort is encouraging!

Depending on her size look at the Dr Martens softy leather Adrian loafer £70.
every pair of shoes I buy I get blisters, I wore these in ladies all day not one rub.

Put loafers in M and S search bar and they have loads of brands. You could order a few to try. Their delivery is usually quick and it’s easy to return.

I find with loafers I always need heel grips - and then need to add a second set on top once they've been worn for a while and stretch out.

You want the leather ones (from Boots) or the padded ones, but NOT the clear rubber ones, they come unstuck

MavisBarrel · 10/02/2026 19:57

Thanks so much everyone for all the ideas ! Eventually we ended up in Clarks as we went loafer blind( they all looked the same but none fitted well) and had given up hope online ( we must have tried about 30 pairs all in!) we got her some lovely lace up patent shoes which she is happy to wear and will hopefully tick the comfort box!

I think this is what I was veering towards needing to do - I have the cushioned heel grips but it still felt risky for a weekend of walking in them all day from brand new- might get a pair for other less extensive wearing and try that !
so many lovely loafers I quite want some for myself now.

You really can’t beat Clark’s for comfort, great choice

Throwntothewolves · 10/02/2026 20:27

Heel grips might help. I have long, narrow feet and these work for me with slip on shoes

I would never have considered Dr Martens for soft comfort from day but am liking some of these and saving this idea for future school shoes so thank you !

Gabor Squeeze are a good fit for narrow feet but are a bit dearer.
