Rosacea - Soolantra & azalaic acid.

Following on from recent threads about rosacea I have started using soolantra, particularly on my rudolf-nose with enlarged pores. How do I use azalaic acid with Soolantra? Do I start using it right away? Or do I wait a month or two? I'm using soolantra at night - should I use azalaic acid in the morning?
Any other hints & tips?

I really hope this will finally be the combination that sorts my skin out!

I use Azeliac acid in the morning on clean dry skin and Soolantra at night. If you haven’t used Azeliac before I’d start with 1-2 times a week.

Thanks @WildFlowerBees how long have you been using it? How's it going?
I've bought the ordinary 10% azalaic acid today - have you moved up to 20%?

i use azaelic acid 20% as prescribed and its very stingy. ive read literature to say 15% is equally as effective. try 1-2 times a week and build up. i use on an evening, stings for about 10-15 mins then its fine. a bit of tret 0.025 and then slather with moisturiser afterwards.
a game changer for me has been mirvaso gel. i use this in the morning on the most red bits (in my case ruddy cheeks and tip of nose). it doesnt fix the rosecea but it reduces the redness significantly.
ive also found the calm balm from yepoda works well and doesnt agrivate the skin. follow it with a gentle foaming cleanser (i use the yepoda one here too but i hate the smell). then the above. i was never offered the ivermectin cream but would be curious to try it.

I have a red nose and large pores but no spots or pustules as such- my GP said soolantra wouldn’t be suitable. Is that your experience or has it worked for you? Has the azaelic acid worked please?

JudgementalCat · 04/02/2026 21:02

@Leneh1 that's a shame - that's the same as me. I was so hopeful!
Did your GP recommend anything? A private derm recommended laser treatment, but it's so expensive with only an 80% success rate.

@JudgementalCat If was only an e-consult but I’m seeing them later this month. I did try laser once but no real change
