Oh - I am very bad at this, so can't help, but I will watch in interest and hope to pick up some tips myself

RubySlippers · 14/06/2008 17:19

do it after a bath or shower (the steam softens everything)

do it quickly

only pluck from underneath the brow

you won't pass out

MrsSprat · 14/06/2008 17:20

a mirror, some cotton wool, some toner and a good sense of symmetry. Pluck under the brow in the direction of growth, never above.

Tortington · 14/06/2008 17:22

you need to do both at the same time not ne and tent h oter or else they wontlook the sae and you will end up with no eyebrows

the bestest tp in h world is

geta brand new eyebrow pencil and draw on your eyebros the shape you would like to have.

pluck allthe hairs that aren't withn that shape.

then wipe of the eyebrow pencil

applause for me te fucking genius. ( gave that tip to daughter who was seriously overplucking!

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:23

i'm so scared of the pain there is no chance of over plucking lol.

will do it after dying my hair tonight.

Tortington · 14/06/2008 17:25

fgs don't pull at the end of the hair try to get the tweezers riht near yourskin - less painfull - and as other hve said wam water first and warm steam filled bathroom to open your pores

you'll be reet!

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:27

thanks.

i read some things which say warm water, steam etc which make sense, and others which say ice !

if i come on tomorrow askign for eyebrow wigs or soemthing you will know its gone horribly wrong

Tortington · 14/06/2008 17:29

if its a merkin for our nether regions - wonder whatan eyebrow wig is? a gherkin?

shall await gherkin thread.

i imagine ice afterwards might help?

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:30

The first 10 or so hairs you ripfromyourhead-- tweeze will sting like a b*tch, but after that I think the area numbs itself a little.
A friend of mine puts Bonjela on her eyebrows for 5 mins first never tried it myself but she swears by it. I just tough it out

Take your time, better to under-tweeze than over-tweeze. Stop when you've had enough adn go back to it with a fresh set of eyes a couple of hours later.

rub an ice cube over them for a bit. then start pluckin'.

waffletrees · 14/06/2008 17:34

TBH - I would go and get them professionally done te first time. You can even get her to show you how to do it.

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:35

waffle, i really cant afford it.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 14/06/2008 17:37

i hear ya, misdee.

seriously, ice them and go.

got any witch hazel? that can help soothe them afterwards.

misdee · 14/06/2008 17:38

might have a bottle of witch hazel.

PuppyMonkey · 14/06/2008 17:39

Go to a professional first time. Only costs me £4.50. You'll make a hash of it yourself.

Get it done first time, then you will be able to carry on doing it yerself after...

expatinscotland · 14/06/2008 17:39

dab it on where you've plucked afterwards, it'll get rid of the redness and any swelling.

whatever you do, NEVER quaff wine or any alcoholic beverage and pluck.

MamaG · 14/06/2008 17:41

I sometimes look at mine in the mirror and wonder hwether to start plucking - I once posted a pic of my eyebrows on here for opinions general consensus was leave 'em alone, but I do still look at them and wonder
