I'm late 50's and genetically fortunate to look a little younger! However I know I need to have a decent skincare regime (I constantly start enthusiastically and then fall by the wayside...😞)
I happened to go to Aldi today and bought a Superboost Hyluronric acid serum as I've seen good reviews about it.
My problems now are (being somewhat skincare dense!) -
should I use it morning and evening ?
which moisturiser should I use afterwards ?
My skin is normal with occasional dry patches due to stress and I prefer a lighter/ thinner consistency moisturiser.

Please help - what has worked best for you, should I stick with buying a Lacura moisturiser or can I go with something else?

Sorry for asking, it seems like a simple thing but I'm hoping someone can give me a good recommendation...

Thanks in advance!

Edited for grammar!

I use it morning and evening after cleansing and before moisturizer - in the evening I use a slightly thicker cream (inkey list, recommend!) and in the morning I just use Nivea and SPF. I'd recommend putting on the serum when your skin is slightly wet after cleansing.

Hyluronric acid is my first step - on a damp skin - morning and evening I aim for but every morning

Then in the mornings I use a peptide serum and at night I slap on the moisturiser

I have combination skin so I need a rich moisturiser at night when it has the time to soak in, a serum sits under my make up nicely

I use Clinique Smart Clinical Repair cream, which I read somewhere was one of the most effective. It’s not cheap. There is a serum that goes with it but I don’t bother. I use it once a day because I just use a wipe in the evening (after years of a more complex routine I’ve been doing this since Covid and my skin is just as good).
However staying out of the sun and not smoking is probably the best thing you can do for your skin.

Just keep it simple

I use a gentile foaming wash with had hyaluronic acid, then usually The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid over the top in the mornings . Then I slap on some peptide serum - retinol is too harsh on my skin

Evenings again with the wash, hyaluronic and then a rich moisturiser - usually Nivea or Avon or even Lidl - whatever soaks in easily , and it can change , lidl might suit for months then I need Nivea for a while - my skin tells me . This time of year with minus temps and car heating I often have to moisturise in the mornings as well ( I dont wear make up for work at 5 am )

Too many steps and you will give up .

Thanks @suki1964, I start with every good intention and try not to let it get too complicated but then life happens and I miss doing it, then I start again, rinse and repeat! I guess I need to actually prioritise doing it, maybe set myself a reminder or something to keep me on track? I'll be a grown up one day, honestly...🤣

So I've managed to do this at least once a day so far, trying hard to make it "stick" as a habit! My skin is definitely feeling better so I'm going to try really hard to keep a regular routine going...

For me, the thing that helps with maintaining an evening routine, which tends to be lengthier than my morning one, is not waiting until last thing at night when I just want to fall into bed. If I’m not going out I do my routine after dinner so around 8 or 9 when I’m awake enough to not be tempted to skip it. Especially as I’m using Korean skincare which tends to have more steps.

Morning and evening! Put it on damp skin.

I wash my face using La Roche Posay toleriane cleanser and then use a hydrating toner (currently using TIRTIR milky toner), then use HA. If my skin feels particularly dry sometimes I layer it between a mist.

Then I use any treatments after it. I’m currently using medicube pore pads and tretinoin 3 times a week as my skin can’t handle it anymore than that.

I’ve recently started using medicube collagen jelly as an evening moisturiser and I have been finding it very hydrating so I think I’ll repurchase. I use vitamin E oil at the end.
