What should i pack for a 2 week holiday to Italy in June as a 50 plus ,medium height and weight woman who isn't keen to expose too much skin!
The holiday will include lots of travelling around by coach, moving location every couple of days and will take in cities and coastal regions too. Quite a bit of walking and a posh dinner .Rome,Milan, pompei ,venice,Florence and the Italian lakes region and the Amalfi coast.
23kg luggage allowance.
Any advice or tips

I’m exhausted just thinking about it as that is a lot of fab places to pack in ! Comfy shoes, layers and rainwear (could storm in the Lakes and on the coast). Linen and cotton good but may crease easily. Hat with brim. Avoid vest tops and short shorts for cities where you will visit churches or take a large scarf to cover shoulders.

If last year was anything to go by it will be very very hot, 40+.
Cotton dresses, skirts, tops ... i'd not bother with shorts or pants.
A hat, sunglasses, rechargeable fan. Plenty of sun cream.
Hair ties/clips.
Comfortable sandals.

Thanks for the tips. i was thinking along the same lines but wondering about creasing as a lot of coach travel between locations.

I’d take wide legged linen trousers as walking in skirts can sometimes give chub rub on the thighs. Linen creases no matter what!
Sundresses and shift dresses that cover bra straps (again for comfort) and very light cotton blouses that give you sun coverage but breeze.
In fact, no artificial fibers at all is best.
A baseball cap or cotton sun hat and quality sunglasses. Even a fan (traditional or hand cranked) is fine.
If you’re visiting so many cities, sandals that strap around your ankles are better than toe post and light plimsolls ( Superga or All stars) with cotton socks are comfortable on the cobblestones.
If time allows it, go clothes shopping! But please avoid the Positano style dresses, IMO they don’t look good back in the UK.

This is the sort of Positano dress I mean. The tile prints or lemons were fashionable last year but I’m not a fan.

It will be very hot. I’d be going for lots of airy (white) linen personally.

when I am on a touring holiday I am afraid I pack old knickers and throw them away, Can’t bear having a case full of dirty underwear. And I always wear white trainers and not sandals so my feet have proper support.

I take your point about support for walking.
But, out of interest where do you throw the dirty underwear?

I have decided to ditch the shorts and vest tops and go back to cotton dresses for the summer. With chub rub shorts if there's any danger of that. Far easier to style, looks more out together and no waistbands to get restrictive or sweaty.

For your fab trip I'd pack a few cotton or very light Jersey knee length dresses and a couple of maxis. Cropped cardigan, wide scarf, linen or light cotton shirt. I'm not a fan of trainers with dressess (I know this is just me!) , I'd go for the most stylish walking sandles I could find, some pretty pumps and a flat strappy sandal for nice events.

Presumably in the bin in the hotel bathroom ?

im not generally a fan of patterned clothing, but I think for this type of holiday it may be helpful in case you need to make clothes do for more than one wear. I also think that linen can often be quite a thick fabric, so be wary of that as I would expect Italy in June to be pretty hot. We were in Lake Garda the first week in June last year and it was around 28 degrees. I would expect further south or in a city to be hotter than that. I have a couple of items of summer clothing in a thin, crinkle viscose material which I think is good for hot temperatures. Also very thin cotton clothing (eg the kind of thing you get at Aspiga), although that’s more likely to crease. Make sure you have a cardigan and a wrap with you, aside from covering up in churches, the aircon on the coach will feel pretty cool (well hopefully!). I would also wear flat sandals with a decent sole rather than trainers.
