Business class flight outfit

I’m flying to Australia business class and I have no idea what to wear. I have only ever flown in economy seats.

I tend to wear jeans a lot in everyday life and I am a ‘smart casual’ person.

Just wear what you would normally wear. There’s all sorts of people flying business class.

Wear whatever you want to. Smart casual is fine

For a flight that long you just need to be comfy. Yoga pants, layers and a wide scarf for the different temps. Easy.

I usually wear a t shirt with a jumper and leggings, and take my PJs to change into at night as I think mentally it helps me get in the sleeping zone! Then a fresh pair of pants and t shirt to change into in the morning. If I’m not in a rush I take a shower and change in the lounge at arrivals.

I go for comfort. Nobody cares what you wear. I usually wear leggings and a loose comfy top and a cardigan if I get chilly. Have a tshirt in my bag which I change into just before we land in Sydney.

I am going next month and am wearing some black joggers and a black top with a smart cardigan/jacket.

Nothing with wide leg trousers as you don’t want them trailing on the floor in the loo.

A business suit 😊

Seriously, anything you feel comfortable in. I wouldn't use jeans myself on a flight but loose elastic waisted trousers. A change of top is handy. Anything goes as long as it's clean and comfortable. You'll see all sorts, and business class just means bigger seats and more leg room. Nothing to get worried about attire wise at all.

Enjoy your trip.

Comfy light clothing - I wore lounge trouser things, a t shirt and a zip up hoody, and trainers that I could slip on and off easily. A change of clothes is a good idea, especially if you decide to have a shower at the airport (highly recommend, it made me feel a million times better and it was like a spa - very nice!) Everyone was very casually dressed (Cathay Pacific), no cashmere throws or pashminas on display a la MN - it was fab! Take full advantage of the free food and cocktails onboard, enjoy your amenity bags, have a relaxing time in the lounges, and a brilliant time in Oz!

Brilliant. Thank you all.

I come from an era where people advised dressing smartly to get upgraded so that had played on my mind. Dressing inappropriately is one of my biggest fears in life. I’m that friend who will need to know what’s everyone’s wearing before we go out.

I wouldn't wear jeans. Not because uou'll be judged, just because you'll be uncomfortable on an extra long haul flight. Wear soft layers.

Woollyguru · 24/01/2026 11:08

I just wore comfortable clothes. Leggings T-shirt hoodie. No need to dress up.
