Clip-in extensions for wedding day - please advise

I have booked in with a bridal hair stylist for my wedding day. It's a micro wedding so striving to keep costs to a low level. It's costing me £75 for my hair and £65 for my daughter. I'm not getting a hair trial, as it would be another £75 and that feels like an unnecessary expense. I would concede to a trial if it was deemed a must-have.

I'm undecided on what style to go for; updo or hair down. I've bought some 18" clip-in hair extensions for the day. These are for volume; they don't blend well enough for me have a mermaid transformation.

Does anyone know if I should have the extensions pre-cut to my hair length ahead of the wedding day appointment, or am I better to keep them long so as to keep options open? I have messaged the stylist but she's read the message and not replied, so perhaps it's a silly question.

Could you not have just gone to your usual hairdresser on the day of the wedding?

The hair stylist I've booked with works in the same studio at the MUA I've booked . It will save a lot of faff with going to various places and trying to park etc on a hectic day. I like that I can multi-task my hair/makeup and my daughters at the same time and probably save a couple of hours.

Plus, my normal stylist is great for a cut and colour but her up-dos tend to be a bit 'school disco'. The stylist I'm booked in with specifically does bridal hair and all the images on her social media are fabulous.

Are you wearing it up? If so I would keep the length as it won’t matter. I would advise the fake hair to be pinned up as it can look a bit fake if left loose.

She probably wants to see the extensions before committing one way or another. It’s generally best when wearing your hair down, if you aren’t wearing hair curled, to have the extensions cut first to blend. Do you have layers in your hair? If it’s blunt cut then ideally take your extensions to your hair length or just below.

colour wise if they are off, you might be better off with an up-do & using the extensions rolled up as hair padding, wrapping them in a hair net in your shade helps with keeping them secure under your hair.

you could even save what you cut off (if you’re cutting from 18 inch to 12 for example) the same way, stuffed in a hair net & wrapped & tied, then another hair net wrapped & tied around that to keep it all together, to make a bit of crown updo padding. A couple of bobby pins to hold it in.

Ideally if they aren’t a match colour wise, then lighter in colour is easier to disguise than too dark.

I did my own hair for my wedding but if you aren’t experienced with extensions. And don’t really know what you want. I would be very tempted if I were you to do your daughters hair myself (simple bun or curls) and add another £10 to the £65 you’d be saving on her hair for the trial.

I've just been looking at clip in extenstions with my regular hairdresser for my wedding day. She won't be doing my hair on the day as it's abroad, but she's going to order them for me, cut them and do a trial so I can decide what I want before I go. She said she'll do a wispy cut to help them blend more if that helps 🤷🏻‍♀️

My stylist replied today and has confirmed she's happy to cut them on the day if needed 😊 that's a relief, saves any faff
