Desperately seeking unicorn jeans (petite, no high rise)

SecretHappiness · 20/01/2026 19:05

Am at my wits’ end with jeans and hoping someone has cracked this.

I need two pairs of jeans and feel like I’m hunting unicorns. I’m 5’1.5 , petite-ish, usually a UK 12 (can swing big 10 to small 14 depending on brand and bloating). I’ve had two c-sections, have a natural waist and a bloaty lower belly and I absolutely cannot do high rise jeans. Anything labelled mid rise seems to be high rise on me. High rise is a hard no.

Ideally looking for one pair of skinny jeans that are fitted, comfy, stretchy but not flimsy and finish neatly at the ankle.

And another pair of bootcut jeans that look a bit more put together, work with boots or flats and are still figure hugging rather than loose.

My big issue is quality. I like stretch for comfort but every stretch jean I own eventually rips at the crotch or goes baggy and sad after a few washes (looking at you H&M!). I don’t want jeans that feel amazing for two weeks and then fall apart.

I need regular rise or even low rise by today’s standards, petite friendly, and available online with decent returns because getting out to try things on with a baby is just not happening at the moment.

Budget is mid range but happy to stretch a little or buy secondhand if it’s a known easy to search style.

If anyone has found jeans that actually fit a similar brief and have lasted, please tell me what they are before I lose my mind! Thank you so much x

I also hate high rise. Love low rise but hard to find now.

Im a bit taller but they also come in petite. They also don’t go baggy! I wear them most days

I spent weeks trawling the shops to find those. I used to have hollister ones but they don’t do low rise skinny anymore :(

Bon marche do a cracking skinny jean in 4 lengths

Georgiemc · 21/01/2026 12:07

I get my petite jeans from Abercrombie & Fitch. They do sell low rise ones

alwaysrootingfortheantihero · 21/01/2026 12:11

Came here to also recommend Abercrombie and Fitch. They have a wide variety of lengths in every style and are my go to for petite jeans. They also wash and last really well in my experience

Blessedbethefruitloopss · 21/01/2026 12:40

River Island Molly jeans. I’ve worn for over 10 years. Best skinny jean for me - 5’1. They’re mid rise, and normally come in a petite and a short version.

Blessedbethefruitloopss · 21/01/2026 12:41

And Hollister.

Do you have a link please? They never have them when I've looked. Just had a look online now.

I was so disappointed the last time I went in Hollister too and all they had was massive baggy, and high waisted jeans! All gone online too.

CandiedPrincess · 21/01/2026 13:33

I get all mine from M&S now, got both skinnies and bootcut from there recently.

I got some jeans from River Island a couple of years ago, was so excited to find low rise.

Went back to get another pair when they wore out, all mid rise and high! So annoying. I had a look at Molly online but it says midrise. I guess maybe worth a try if you can manage that. The low rise pair I had were great!

I love their cosy jeggings!

FcukBreastCancer · 21/01/2026 13:37

My lower rise ones are mostly GAP

Have you tried levis 501?

Should have got more pairs! My blue ones have had it and I cant replace till autumn.
They are so good!

DancingFlamingo · 21/01/2026 13:42

I adopted the Levi’s 711 a few years ago. Low rise skinny but are definitely jeans not leggings, just the right about of stretch. They hold their shape between washing and mine have lasted a good few years still looking good. They’re not cheap but you can find them on offer fairly often (Amazon can be a good place to look).

I didn't realise they were so seasonal! Wish I'd bought another pair - I only got the grape ones this year.

Thank you for all the recommendations everyone! Have a few leads and I hadn’t considered Hollister if A&F if I’m honest, I tend to think of them as young brands but I should expand my horizons. Fingers crossed I can find the right ones and will come back tk update if I do in case it’s helpful to someone else allergic to high rise jeans 😅

I lived in hollister low rise jeans for about ten years! It’s all been mid or high rise in there for a while now :(
I even resorted to getting some off vinted about a year ago! So would be interested to know where people have seen them.

The next ones are closest I can find, they’re not quite as low but they are still comfy.

FcukBreastCancer · 22/01/2026 07:51

Ooh I'm taking myself to a&f. I need curve extra short.

Franpie · 22/01/2026 14:03

For all you ladies hunting low rise jeans, my DD’s go to for low rise is Motel Rocks. They have loads which she lives in. The brand is firmly aimed at the teenage market though so size up if you’re between sizes as everything comes up quite small.
