Petite-friendly work style

I’m keen to break out of my usual work outfit of wide legged trousers with a sleek knit. I’m petite (5’2” ish) but also have a curvy bust, and need something suitable for a design company - I’m one of the older employees (45!) and don’t want to look like a fashion victim!

I'm the same height but different body shape (smaller on top, bigger on the bottom). Apart from wide leg trousers I also wear straight ankle grazers, worn with a shirt/blouse with some details (pleats, pussy bow, embroidery etc). Sometimes a knitted vest over a shirt/t-shirt or rollneck. In autumn/winter I often wear a wool skirt/pinafore with the same hard-working shirt/blouse/rollneck.

Nice ideas here, thanks very much - looking into straight ankle grazers as we speak Grin

I'm 5'3" with short legs and late 50's. I've lost about 4st in weight over the last 3 years and am rediscovering my style. I tend to wear mid length skirts and jumpers, with flat ankle boots for work (looks better than it sounds!), or smart wide leg trousers and tops that end at the waist. I get a lot of skirts and trousers from Next petite or M&S short length. I'm constantly complimented on my work outfits now, even from complete strangers. Trick for me is to colour coordinate and contrast wide leg trousers with more fitted tops, or slim/skinny bottom half with boxier tops.

@keepincool Your style sounds fab. The midi skirt - jumper combo can give great proportions. I totally agree about contrasting the shape on top and bosom halves. So you keep both the same-ish colour?

Bottom halves, not bosom!
