Vinted: selling a £100 item

Would you sell to someone who has no reviews? I’m a bit worried, it’s a dress that’s been sold for £100.

NO !

Hopeyoudontspotme · 17/01/2026 09:35

If you are on facebook, there is a really good group called idiots of Vinted.

it will explain all the different things that can go wrong.

I like Vinted for second hand books and odd bits of clothes , but after a really bad experience I now limit all transactions to £20 (ie money I can loose)

vinted / vinted legal were completely useless, and I would have lost £90 if my bank hadn’t stepped in.

Sorry, I’m the seller, the person with no reviews is the buyer. Not sure if that was clear in my first post!

I sell on Ebay (US site) and a couple of other international sites. I looked at Vinted but the prices realised were too low for me. I would look at some of the vintage private groups on Facebook. Ive sold a few things in this way and you are not burdened by all the rules and regulations.

FrenchBunionSoup · 17/01/2026 09:39

Do you get much choice as seller though? I suppose you could cancel and accept the 1-star rating

ForSaleChesterDraws · 17/01/2026 09:39

I wouldn’t but be aware that if you cancel a purchase you will get 1* feedback for it. If I’m selling items over £30 I will film myself showing the whole item in detail, then packaging it and sealing it in one continuous video. I also take photos of the same item when I put it in the inpost box showing it’s the same untouched parcel.

LuckyNumberFive · 17/01/2026 09:40

No, absolutely not. I have hundreds of good vinted reviews and have seen all too many times about fake profiles. They'll either claim the aren't as described and scam you, pretending something else was in the box you posted, or they'll claim not as described and send their own fake or broken version back to you in its place.

Agree. Vinted is great to buy and sell if things work as expected. If something goes wrong, their customer service is useless.

I know there are lots of scammers (and idiots, as you'll see from the fb groups) but it's not always the case. I've sold a few items around that price and thankfully not had any issues. If you want to take the risk, record yourself packing the item. I also take photos as well - the item with the postage label, any additional packaging (bubble wrap, tissue paper etc), then the final package with postage label on it. If you don't want to take the risk, cancel and take the feedback hit.
