Eye cream recommendation please

Looking for help with my tired-looking, lined under eye area.

I’m 53 and had treatment for cancer 5 years ago. All good, I’m well now, but I feel very self-conscious about how lined my eyes now are. And they are even worse when I’m tired!

I fully acknowledge that I am lucky to be here and have this to worry about, but can anyone recommend a good eye cream that will help minimise the wrinkles?

I don’t want to look younger, just less perma-knackered.

It may be something that only a cosmetic treatment will help, no idea what that might be though. I’m not averse to that, but I suspect that route will be out of my budget.

Anyway, all suggestions gratefully received!

I don’t know if this will help, but I love Estée Lauder advanced eye repair. I find it feels really soothing. I’m not sure objectively it does anything to stop wrinkles but for that moment when I’m using it, it feels smoothing and soft. it’s expensive side of things.

A dermatologist I know says the best thing you can do for your skin is after you’ve washed it in the evening just absolutely slather it with Vaseline. That helps retain moisture.

if you want something that’s entirely natural, you could try Egyptian magic cream. It’s a massive jar that lasts forever, but basically it’s made up of natural bees waxes and oils and you can use that all over your face.

I am surprised by how much hydrating eye drops have helped, especially overnight. Perhaps its related to dry eyes?

Somewhereoverthesea · 15/01/2026 12:25

Thank you all very much, I shall investigate them all 😊

I also find that having hydrated eyes helps - I use a spray for dry eyes. I also use the Shark LED mask with cooling pads and find they help make my eyes less tired and therefore less puffy and a little less wrinkly.

For me I actually find eye patches more effective than any of the creams I’ve tried. But I’m sure it’s personal preference.

Somewhereoverthesea · 15/01/2026 17:27

I’d not thought of patches, I’m happy give them a go too! Any in particular that you recommend?

There is a Clarins eye cream (sorry unsure which one) which is actually said by experts to make as much difference as Botox etc. it’s about £70. If I had the money i would look into it.

The Clarin’s one is great, and if money was no object I’d bath in it. As it’s quite expensive I’ve tried a few others and been converted as I found this is nearly as good and is much more affordable.

I really like the eye patches, and I keep them in the fridge to help with puffiness. The best trick though is to put eye cream on (I like the no7 perfect and protect which is on 3 for 2 offer at the moment so very reasonably priced) and put the eye patch on top of that for half an hour. Really lets it all absorb and leaves my skin really moisturised.

Sam bunting stuff is very highly regarded amongst my friends. I’m tempted to try some of that, though it does look like similar ingredients to the boots one.

PickledMuffin · 15/01/2026 21:14

I have very sensitive skin, used to use L’occtaine immortal eye gel, but my stupid skin decided to become allergic to it. it was really good though for lines, puffiness and dark circles. now i use CeraVe eye cream and also the Grace and Stella eye patches. Both are good. I miss the old eye gel though 😭

Thank you for even more recommendations, I will check them all out and start working my way through them.

The best eye cream I’ve ever used is the Aldi vitamin c one but they only sell it once in a blue moon.

I have heard about this one, but never managed to be there at the right time. I’ll grab some to try if the stars align!

I use Pixi de-puffing ones - they are really refreshing as well as making the under eye feel moisturised. As others suggest maybe combining with an eye cream could be good.

Medik-8 retinal eye cream at night, and current using Shiseido
benefiance morning and night (about 10 mins after the medik-8). Expensive, but I keep an eye out for offers - cult beauty, space nk, lookfantastic etc. are always doing offers.

i also find eye patches are a good temporary fix and often use them if I’m looking tired or puffy.

I might have to try the clarins one next though if I find it on offer!

vjg13 · 16/01/2026 11:55

Is it the Clarins Total Eyelift?

Purlant · 16/01/2026 11:58

Medik8 without a doubt! It lasts for ages and I have really noticed a difference.

princesspadam · 16/01/2026 12:21

I love Cauderlie eye cream and really feel a difference after 3 weeks of use
but I also have Botox for lines

Daughn · 16/01/2026 12:44

So many different recommendations here. It is all very personal. Clinique smart clinical repair wrinkle correcting eye cream is my go to after getting a sample in a gift pack a few years ago.

TeaRoseTallulah · 16/01/2026 13:06

Beauty of Joeson eye serum is amazing.
