What do you wear in Zoom meetings?

I normally just have a hoodie. Want to change it to be a bit more professional look, but not too much. Need something warm too and not turning the heat too high when I am alone at home. What do you recommend?

I WFH 3 days a week and I'm in the office 2 days a week in a smart corporate environment. My upper body is presented in the same way when I'm WFH (therefore on endless Teams / Zooms) as it is when I'm in the office.

At this time of year, I am wearing a polo neck probably with a base layer underneath and if it is as cold as it was last week, I might have a smart cardigan & scarf on as well or a smart gilet.

Below the waist, over my leggings, I usually have a heated blanket wrapped around me, as I'm too tight to have the heating on just for one room to be warm!

When I WFH I wear exactly the same as I would in the office on my top half but I would wear jeans at home instead of smarter trousers. For me this is nice knits, shirts, blazers etc.

I do notice when someone wears a hoodie, and tbh it’s mostly those who are less senior. The CEO would never wear one.

I second the tip about a slightly brighter colour on your lips and some jewellery. I also find some bronzer helps with mid-winter Zoom washout.

I’m on calls for many hours a day so have had to see my own reflection for far too long

Agree no more hoodie.
knitwear sounds nice. Didn’t think about wearing jewellery at honeymoon. May be I should try.
it’s professional job, financial services, but not client facing.

Is honeymoon a typo?

I wear jumpers, I have smarter ones for important meetings. I also love a jumper dress and often have thermals underneath. In warmer weather a shirt and smart cardigan or a dress. For me it is importance to look like I have gone to work.

Meetings with my team, I’ll wear whatever. A hoody or t-shirt in the summer. Smarter for other meetings but I don’t really wear office wear anyway, we’re a fairly casual team.

If I need to look smart I’ll wear a nice top but will always have lounge wear on the bottom half. Even for an interview.

Polo neck, smart sweater and a scarf around my neck. Bottom half is either a duvet and knickers or if I'm feeling fancy, leggings.

If I'm running late, I'll dress over the top of my nightwear. This occurs most days. I do brush my hair though. And oddly, always brush my teeth despite the lack of a shower.

Edited to say, I do conceal my eye bags and sort out my eyebrows. If I'm feeling ultra posh, I'll put on a bit of tinted lip balm.

Consummate professional 😁

Sesquipedahlia · 14/01/2026 12:39

😂 I don’t even fuss over my face because of vanity - it’s just that if my skin looks dry, or my eyebrows are wonky, I cannot see anything else on the screen and am thus distracted from whatever I’m supposed to be concentrating on.

But yes, my slightly excessive collection of beautiful knitwear really earned its keep during lockdown.

Jewellery and makeup, hair done. I don't think the clothes are that important so long as you look polished and not just rolled out of bed.
