Hi everyone…
I need to buy some new yoga clothes as I’m starting classes.
What are the cool folk wearing for yoga these days? Thank you! I need to know what to look for on Vinted. X

I just wear capri length leggings for my classes. Im not at all cool!

ElegantFowl · 11/01/2026 17:42

Lots of SB in my yoga classes, also Halara. I notice the flared style has become very trendy again. Makes me feel ancient as I was wearing them 20 years ago.

Bootcut leggings are trendy at the moment as are looser, cuffed trousers - that's what the twenty-somethings are wearing to yoga classes. However my regular class is mostly woman in our 40s and 50s and we're all still wearing leggings. I like Bamboo leggings because they are super soft and so comfortable, but not the warmest if you are going to be outside for a while on your way to class.

I see more lululemon athan sweaty betty in my class which kind of puzzle me because i find SB more available than LLMN… many leggings but what seems to “make” the look is the crop top/yoga bra…. Often assorted to the leggings
no flares in my classes or bootcut but maybe its because it is “hot yoga”

BecauseofyouIlearntnottotrust · 11/01/2026 20:02

Just leggings and t shirt in my yoga class. No makes that stand out.

notnorman · 11/01/2026 21:14

Thank you everyone. It’s at a David Lloyd so the general ‘t shirt and leggings’ that I would wear at say, the church hall, didn’t feel right with all the young fit looking women about!

I go to DL yoga, Sweaty Betty or just regular sports brands like Nike etc, just ‘normal’ really, no need for anything particularly special. It’s more about the fancy mats at DL (Liforme) than the fancy clothes!

Was just having this conversation.
But at least they have pockets these days! I liked them as I could wear plain black flares trousers at work so didn't have to change pre gym, and in my first job (a long time ago) leggings wouldn't have been accepted.
An instructor recommended leggings as opposed to flares/shorts/wide legs when I asked, saying that they are they best things for performance in a class, but I don't know if all instructors would say that.

A high waisted style is useful in yoga. There’s a lot of bending involved and it’s nice to avoid builder bum type scenarios.

Just leggings and t-shirt at my yoga class. Husband wears cycling tights and top. Class in the village hall however, and we are in our late 60's as are many of the class!

TokyoSushi · 11/01/2026 22:14

Oh the mats are a joy, and bolsters, and blocks, and… many opportunities to buy Pretty Yoga Things… 🤣

YellingAway · 11/01/2026 22:15

I don’t go to yoga but do have a pair of leggings from Beyond Yoga which are high waisted, have side pockets big enough for my phone and are so soft and comfortable.

TokyoSushi · 11/01/2026 22:15

BUT DL supplies it all, so you don’t actually need to buy any of it (unless you’re a sucker for merch like me!)

Make sure they are squat proof - no one needs to see your arse cheeks shining through as you bend. Or wear big pants, not a thong. I had this unfortunate experience only this week.

Fear not- all of my pants are big!!!

You don't need a fancy mat, a budget one from decathlon will do fine especially if you're just trying yoga out. If you are looking to invest then I'd really recommend a Liforme mat. The are made from natural materials so you don't get PVC fumes, they last for ages and they have handy markings that can help with your alignment,

GlasgowGal2014 · 12/01/2026 16:13

After posting that I googled to see how much a Liforme mat would set you back these days (£125 if you are wondering), and I found quite a nice dupe on the Matalan website that says it is made out of natural rubber and has the marking for alignment:

I do Pilates rather than yoga, and am delighted with the black, high-waisted fleecy leggings I bought in Asda. They were £9 full price, and I got a second pair for £5 in the sale. PS, I am however over 60.
