Has anyone ever used this? I really need help as I just order from Next and live in leggings and tops. I just want to look a bit more put together on a daily basis.

Yes! I went to Bluewater and loved the experience

Yes, it’s brilliant for encouraging you to consider more up to date styles in a no pressure environment.

Yes, I did it last month after wanting to for ages and it was fabulous.

She was not at all pushy and so helpful - helping me know how to wear what I already had too. Eg if she picked something and I said I had similar already, she was pleased and spent time explaining how I could use that existing piece with others.

I felt under no pressure to buy but got:
Two skirts
Two pairs of trousers
Two cashmere tops
a denim dress
a shirt two tops
a sweater

it all goes with each other and I’ve felt so mix more put together since.

My top tip would be to take th shoes you’d be wearing to check the clothes go.

PersephoneParlormaid · 11/01/2026 08:44

How long does it take and what sort of price are the clothes?

I think it’s an hours appointment, you set the budget a they try to shop within that. Obviously it’s John Lewis so if you want more than one item your budget needs to be more than £30. You can go on John Lewis website and look what’s available within your range per item

i used the service a few years ago for the same reasons OP, I’m going to do it again soon, can’t recommend enough

What kind of budget do you need to have to make it worthwhile? £300? £500? More?

PersephoneParlormaid · 11/01/2026 09:09

That’s great, I’ll send DH off for an hour and enjoy myself!

I’d say £500, but it’s more about learning what suits me so that I can take the knowledge forward.
I hardly ever buy myself anything new, I have about 4 outfits that I rotate on a daily basis, so it’s time to treat myself.

There’s two different appointment lengths. I did the wardrobe refresh which is 2 hours. Took a little longer because I wasn’t being rushed at all.

for the list above, I spent £730. Lots were from Whistles, some John Lewis and some cheap Mango pieces to mix in. I think I got a lot for my money. I was clear from the outset that I wanted to spend £600, but if I loved lots of stuff and could spend more, I’d be pleased.

I don’t think there’s a minimum spend and the budget was definitely driven by me, rather than them.

I used the service once (in Bluewater) as I needed new jeans but hate shopping them on my own. For me it was bit of a mixed experience, the stylist was friendly but struggled to find stock to try on 😵‍💫 managed to find one pair which was a good fit and which I bought in the end. Maybe I just had a crap timining.

On the plus side there really wasn’t any pressure to buy at all. The stylist told me they don’t get any bonuses from our purchases.
