Trousers for over thermals

I am heading to Paris and Disneyland Paris with my DS for February half term. I think it maybe incredibly cold.

I have a good coat but not sure what to wear over themals (merino wool) on my legs. Jeans are generally my thing but I know they are quite cold. I have a pair of Akai trousers from Vinted but they are skinny fit so I can’t really fit anything underneath. Any other recommendations on trouser options for v cold weather?

Cords, chinos or walking trousers over thermals are what I wear when I’m outside for 6 hours + in the depths of winter. Keeps me nice and warm. Also a feather gillet over a jumper and under the coat helps keep you warm without adding too much bulk.

We went in January once and still talk about how bitterly cold it was! Wasn’t our choice to go at that time, it was a big family group and in-laws treated us all as it was a big birthday for one of them and there were a load of grandchildren who were into some of the big Disney films at the time.
The point is though really that yes it might be cold here but I don’t know about any of you, I wouldn’t plan a day at a theme park in the winter here (for a start they’re not open - I wonder why?!) because it’s a day of standing around outside and not moving much and certainly not at a brisk walking pace with small kids in a very open space where it quite often seems to be a wind trap.
Anyway I’d go with thermals under any kind of trousers (I wouldn’t choose jeans either, they seem to just hold the cold in the denim) and several thin layers on the top. You’re unlikely to feel too warm but even so I’d rather be too warm than icy to the bone.

Uniqlo have fleeced lined trousers that work well over thermals, they’re also shower proof. They come in a few different neutral colours and have men’s / kids versions too

I've a friend (from the UK, not a Mediterranean type!) who lived in Paris for a while, and she says she's never been cold like she was in Paris in the winter.

I imagine that @SurreyisSunny doesn’t spend all day outside standing in queues or watching parades at home either. Get yourself a set of merino thermals, top and bottom and some wool rich socks @SurreyisSunny. You’ll be toasty.

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads wore my new merino socks today walking the dog and they were lovely with wellies (I often find wellies cold) so they should be ideal!

@TheChosenTwo I’d probably not choose to go in February in an ideal world but can’t take leave from my job March to May so can’t do Easter or May bank hols. All theme parks in Uk open in the winter. And London is always open and full of tourists all year round!
