Spots after waxing?

Whitty · 12/06/2008 13:12

I took the plunge and had my top lip waxed!

I had it done yesterday and it was red for a while, but redness has sort of gone but its still a bit sore, I suppose it feels like I shaved it, that sort of feeling, and I have a few tiny spots starting.

I bought a bottle of Tea Tree Oil and have been putting that on constantly, but when will it be ok and normal looking? And will this happen everytime now?

Please I'd love some replies so I know its normal, or not...!

tea tree might be a bit harsh, the top layer of skin will have gone as well.

must say taht i have had such trouble with any form of moustache removal that now i have to use tweezers which is such a pain in bot. everything else gives me massive rash.

Thanks fishie, it does feel a bit odd, so thats prob the skin thing. The therapist used tea tree to soothe it after and I just bought a bottle in the salon as I don't really know anything about beauty etc so just trusted her and bought the same stuff.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of stuff I should use to soothe it?

8 hour cream is good to soothe after waxing

Is that the E Arden stuff? How expensive is it csilk?

If you get it from the counter it's either £12ish or £20 ish depending on the size of the tube, but often you can pick it up cheaper on discount websites and superdrug sometimes have it in. Or you can ask for a sample from the counter and get it for free!

Actually better than that is evelom cleanser - I put it on my underarms after waxing (don't remove it - let it soak in)and it really brings any redness down.

'tend skin' is fab after waxing, but it may be too harsh for upper lip

pollypeachum · 12/06/2008 14:30

The place I go to uses savlon cream to soothe. I don't usually have any problems but the last time I went I was just about to have a period - which I didn't think twice about - and my skin reacted much more than it normally does.
Will have to plan waxing with more care now. Thank goodnes it was only lip and eyebrow and nothing more painful

When will the spottiness go? Will this happen everytime? Can someone share with me? I'm new to all this, though I can somehow see me now being a wax convert....am loving it so far....

Boots do something similar to tend skin in bigger stores.

It says men can use it on their faces, so not sure if women can too?

Now you see if you'd had threading instead....
