Best budget hand cream

Currently use L’Occitane Shea Butter, which I love. I cannot justify the price anymore, it’s £20 plus depending on offers at the time.

Any really good budget hand reams for £10 and under? Not been a fan of O’Keefes.

Don’t want highly fragranced or sticky.

What does the Lidl dupe one look like? I'm in there a lot and have somehow missed it!

persisted · 05/01/2026 12:11

I like Neutragena, the Norwegian formula. they specifically do a fast absorbing one which I prefer to use during the day.

Ineedanewsofa · 05/01/2026 12:12

Another vote for the Lidl dupe, it’s brilliant! Will be stocking up the next time I go.

CointreauVersial · 05/01/2026 13:21

Neutrogena.

You don't need much, as it's quite thick, but I use it at night and wake up with lovely soft hands.

thaisweetchill · 05/01/2026 13:28

Body shop hemp hand cream

Comefromaway · 05/01/2026 13:45

I also use L'occitane (both myhusband and my mum bought me more for Christmas) but Nivea is also very nice.

I've heard that Cerave or Eucerin are also good but I've not tried them.

ArcticBells · 05/01/2026 14:18

Creams that are sold for feet are the best

SelbourneIdentity · 05/01/2026 14:52

I use Aveeno and because I love lavender, I add drops of Elgiva essential oil to the tube. That way I control how strongly it's fragrance, and the scent is proper lavender, not artificial. Love it, and very inexpensive.

Summerhillsquare · 05/01/2026 14:53

Norwegian Formula unscented. Cheap because only a tiny drop required.

Pernicketywishes · 05/01/2026 15:55

I have a few as I’ve been bought some as gifts. But hands down the best I find, not too sticky, doesn’t take ages to soak in etc, is the Laura Ashley one my MIL bought me. I just checked and it’s on offer in Boots right now. It’s a bargain and is really good. I prefer it to more expensive ones I’ve had.

Vp12 · 08/01/2026 21:53

Eucerin Urea Hand Cream is just the best I’ve ever used. It works miracles.

ItWasTheBabycham · 08/01/2026 22:02

Nivea crème - the thick one.

NesciensMater · 09/01/2026 17:18

Another vote for Aveeno.

Sunflower101 · 09/01/2026 19:26

Nivea crème, in a blue tube. Very thick but very good

DisplayPurposesOnly · 09/01/2026 19:31

I really like the blue Aveeno one (but not the green one).

This is also very good and also very cheap:

PurpleDragon19 · 09/01/2026 19:31

I really like the garnier hand superfood, the cocoa butter one. Quite regularly half price at boots or Superdrug for £2.50 ish :)

Thanks all

Does any one know what the Lidl dupe is called?

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 10/01/2026 07:59

I don’t know about the Lidl dupe but I use l’occitane and sometime find it too thick and have a constant tube of Aldi hand cream on the go. I’ve used hand creams daily for years and years and I feel like I’ve used them all. The neutrogena has a slimy feel, I don’t like the Nivea smell but this Aldi Lacura is only about 70p and works a charm.

tiptoptoemaytoe · 10/01/2026 08:05

Ooooh, right up my street. I switched from a high hand cream and have tried a couple- Lidl comes up trumps. Their Q10, intensive and nourishing creams (there’s 3 different ones) are a godsend. I’ve tried their dupes as well but find they’re all fragrance in a watery formulation that doesn’t last. Working hands (the pump version) also scores very highly with me.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 10/01/2026 08:19

@tiptoptoemaytoe
aldi is my closest shop but if it was Lidl I would have tried their hand cream. I’ve tried the working hands one and found that too rich. I like my hands to feel the same, but less dry after applying. I don’t lie to be left with a residue or sticky feel.

CrikeyNumpty · 16/01/2026 17:58

Guys I bought the Lidl dupe. I happened to be parked near a Lidl and remembered. It was under three quid, 2.69 or something. Whilst it isn’t the 10/10 of the original L’Occitane it’s a solid 8.5/10. @bigbandofwifIt is called D’Avignon. Grin

It is in similar packaging to the original in looks (plasticky not metal which is better for squeezability) but is 100ml which is 50ml less than L’Occitane. Smells not quite as lush but inoffensive. It’s a blooming bargain. Thanks for the recommendations.

Guardian article today (though not very budget!) https://www.theguardian.com/thefilter/2026/jan/15/best-hand-cream-tested-uk

Conversationalcheddar · 16/01/2026 18:32

The Lidl oat one is great. Nom sticky, doesn’t smell too strong and makes my hands really smooth. And only 69p.

teaandtoastwouldbenice · 16/01/2026 19:44

Look on Vinted. I’ve bought brand new L’Occitane hand creams half price.
