mine are:
the beauty crop oui cherie primer
kylie cosmetics power plush foundation

By Terry Hyaluronic pressed powder. It's brilliant for my 55 year old skin ...I've tried so many powders but always return to this one.

Clinique Eyes and Lids Take the Day Off makeup remover is by far the best remover I've ever tried

dogsarebetterthanppl · 07/01/2026 00:50

I’ve been into juicy, skin-prepping bases lately, and the thing that’s helped me the most is adding a hydrating toner and a light serum before primer. I’ve grabbed a few bits through Korean skincare wholesale and they’ve slotted into my routine really nicely, especially anything that gives that plump, bouncy feel. Makes makeup sit smoother without having to pile on extra layers.

RipplePlease · 22/01/2026 09:19

Skincare:
Mix it up between Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and Elemis cleansing balm.
Serums…any Lumene.

Make up:
Lisa Eldridge skin tint is gorgeous but very spendy…I want to try the Rimmel dupe.
Laura Mercier eyeshadow stick and Benefit Roller mascara(my holy grail mascara)

Hourglass concealer is excellent. The girl at Liberty said that it would change my life…that hasn’t quite happened but it’s still very good.
My favourite Mac colour (Faux) has unfortunately been discontinued but I’m currently liking Kylie Cosmetics lip butters. Beautiful shades and gives a lovely finish.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 22/01/2026 09:22

All I use is whatever moisturiser is under a fiver at home bargains and cheap hand cream like Nivea, but-

Loreal pure clay glow face scrub saved my skin after the state it was in from all that pandemic mask-wearing and I'm gutted it was discontinued.

My mum wears Dior Trafalgar Red nail varnish and it is the most gorgeous and elegant colour I've ever seen.

MsPug · 22/01/2026 09:26

estee Daywear tinted moisturiser with a little blob of Armani pink fluid sheer glow enhancer (think I got that tip from here)

hourglass ambient powders

charlotte tilbury superstar lips pillow talk and walk of no shame

these are my repeat buys

for @TMMC1 i am white, 53, 5ft 3 inches and weigh 10 stone 🙄🤣

Elsbetka · 22/01/2026 09:36

@GameOfJones I didn't realise ELF had a blusher like that - I'm always on the lookout for high-pigmented, long-lasting blusher non-powder blusher as everything else seems to slide off my face very quickly! Benetint is pretty good but I think not as hard-wearing as it once was. Is there a good range of shades? I'm fairly pale but yellow-toned, and with blonde hair that's rapidly getting I need the flush of colour!

When Liz Earle did cosmetics they did the most beautiful coral cream blush - that's my only grail colour - but it wasn't very long-lasting.

I'm also always on the lookout for a high-pigmented cream concealer for blemish-covering (so not a radiant/shimmering one) to replace my beloved Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. I don't understand why there aren't more on the market. I recently spent ages in JL testing and really the only brand with the right texture was Nars, but their shades didn't work for me.

Current HGs are Rimmel Multi Bronzing Stick, BeautyPie undereye illuminating concealer, Beauty of Joseon Rice + Alpha Arbutin, and Cruel cleanser. Also ivermectin cream for what I think is a bit of folliculitis - seems to be magical stuff.

I'm also wedded to the BeautyPie SPF50 primer, but I WFH so don't get through that much of it 😁

TidyWasp · 22/01/2026 09:39

My two holy grails are Erborian CC and Revolution Sport Fix setting spray. I no longer look like a patchy glazed doughnut by 10am!

GameOfJones · 22/01/2026 09:50

@Elsbetka there aren't loads of colours but the dusty rose one sounds like it would potentially suit you. I'm pale too and that's the first one I bought but I'm cool toned and it was too warm for me, the lilac one looks a scary colour in the tube but suits me much better.

I'd recommend them, they will last me ages because I only use the tiniest amount and they have good staying power. For £7 or so it may be worth a try?

Primrose86 · 22/01/2026 11:00

Pale east asian skin
Nyx blue primer
Chanel cc cream
Missha bb cream
Laura mercier setting powder
One size setting spray
Revlon cream eyeshadow in caramel
Daniel Sandler liquid blush
Hermes blush (way too spendy)
Charlotte tilbury architect highlighfer
Estee lauder bronze goddess highlighter
Hince balm highlighter
Etude house lipstain

Cosrx snail mucin essence
Garner spf serum
Beauty of joseon spf serum

They discontinued my favourite waterproof loreal liquid eyeliner with the sponge tip. Have yet to find a good mascara.

deeahgwitch · 22/01/2026 14:58

Have you tried Chanel Le Volume mascara @Primrose86

No but I generally go for waterproof mascara..also isn't expensive mascara generally not necessary?

deeahgwitch · 22/01/2026 18:33

It’s worth a try.
They sometimes have teeny tiny samples at the Chanel Make Up counter to give out.

FateAmenableToChange · 22/01/2026 19:14

For skincare I love dr sam buntings vitamin c + NAD - give me glass skin. I also really rate all the Centella moisturisers. Birch labs 50+ sun screen in summer. Copper GHK peptides at night.

Makeup I’m pretty low effort these days, if my skin is great I don’t need it. I love bare minerals tinted moisturiser, it’s super light weight & non irritating. Hourglass blush. Lisa Eldridge mascara if I can be bothered the brown is excellent. Urban decay big bush brow mascara fills out my brows perfectly and cool cookie goes great with grey hair.

Advocodo · 22/01/2026 19:16

Clinque city block SPF25. Been buying it for years and years. Daughter now buys it too.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 22/01/2026 22:05

I’ve just bought a Victoria Beckham eye-liner pencil. It goes on beautifully. Just glides with no pulling. I’m glad I like it so much because it was bloody expensive.

GinJarRogers · 22/01/2026 22:12

@RipplePlease I also love Faux, so annoying it’s discontinued! Have you found a decent replacement?

My repeat buys are:
The ordinary Squalane cleanser
La Roche Posay Age Correct SPF 50
Beauty Pie Youthbomb cream and Fruitizyme peel
L’Oréal telescopic mascara
Chantecaille lip chic
Guerlain terracotta bronzer
Chanel loose powder

A new buy which I love is the Nip and Fab ceramide night cream. It’s so light and moisturising and is lovely to use. I’ll definitely be rebuying.

RipplePlease · 22/01/2026 22:20

@GinJarRogers
No I haven’t yet found a complete match. The closest I’ve got is a Kiko lipstick but I can’t remember the name! It’s upstairs and I’m too cosy on the sofa to move 🤣

GinJarRogers · 22/01/2026 22:23

@RipplePlease how is it such an elusive shade?! I was told Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Fair is a good match but it’s lighter and pinker so the search continues.

RipplePlease · 22/01/2026 22:25

@GinJarRogers
I tried CT Pillow Talk years ago when it first came out..yep, too light for me. It just washed me out.

Screamingabdabz · 22/01/2026 22:52

Collection eye liners from Superdrug are £3.99 glide on beautifully. Maybe not the colour range as VB! Their eyebrow pencils are pretty good too.

Don’t understand the love for Rituals. I was given a shower mousse for Christmas by a friend and couldn’t wait to use it but it smelt like fairy liquid smelt in the 70s and didn’t mousse up. And yet Imperial Leather shower foam at £2.50 is thick luxurious and smells amazing.

Tried my first Merit lipstick this week as I fell for the hype. Again. Beautiful colour but has dried my lips to two husks.

Got given a load of beautiful Lancôme skincare at Christmas - has brought my menopausal skin out in spots.

So you see I’m dubious about expensive make up - I’ve spent so much money in stuff over the years that was no better than ‘drugstore’ stuff.

My current stalwarts: (English rose colouring)

Skin - Nivea Q10 anti wrinkle serum (absolutely brilliant on my spot prone skin)

Foundation - still No7 - I’ve tried everything but it’s still the best

Blush - currently using an amazing max factor cream blush that is now discontinued 😭

Eyes - (can’t find a good shadow for crepey eyelids - using Jones Road Matt one but it’s crap)
Collection eye liner which is A-mazing
Lancome mascara - the best

Lips - I’ve got a few contenders but Hourglass is amazing

dogsarebetterthanppl · 23/01/2026 02:14

@Primrose86 i have a family member who is very very fussy about mascara and has very watery eyes. i don't use mascara and haven't for a long time (i'm a lash extension faithful) but i use a lot of plouise products and saw a content creator reviewing her tearproof mascara, so i ordered her some in the black friday sale thinking i was throwing money out of the window, but when i walked into the house with it, she was putting her face on and tried it there and then. to say we were both astonished is a total understatement…she raved and raved about it, which is a big deal sincei can think of at least 20 she has tried and hated, even cult staples, she has now said she will never buy any other mascara as long as she lives which genuinely almost killed me with the shock!

*i would just like to clarify that i am not plouise or someone she would recognise in the street, i just like her products

I have 2 VB eyeliners given to me as presents, was so excited to use them but they make my eyes red! I usually used them on the top and bottom of my eye but going to try just the top now and hope it doesnt happen again!

ChopstickNovice · 23/01/2026 07:38

Mixed race, olivey skin

Pixi endless silky eye pencil

Boots No 7 glide on just as easily and are way cheaper.
I have a VB one and some Boots ones.
Sephora pencils glide on too as does the Kylie one.
