It is for an August wedding. I have large norks so need a dress I can wear a boulder houlder bra with.

I am relatively hourglass/apple shaped.

Whaddya reckon?

I like it but do you?

Bardot necklines not good for large norks IMO. Makes them look rather shelf-like.

oh it is so pretty

BUT i am large ish of nork and i can often look a bit shelf like if there is a high waist detail

llareggub · 12/06/2008 09:38

Arse.

I thought it might be a good solution to my usual flimsy strap problem. I hate summer weddings.

I would emagine you will look rather a sexy fox in this dress - you will have men drooling at your feet that is a complemnet.

For a wedding I am not sure the dress is what I would wear.

RubySlippers · 12/06/2008 09:42

the neckline on this may be better

Pinkjenny · 12/06/2008 09:42

Its a lovely dress, but I of huge norkage wouldn't go anywhere near that neckline.

llareggub · 12/06/2008 09:42

ivykaty, why do you think it isn't wedding material? Just to help my future dress hunt?! I'm not sure sexy fox is the look I am going for...

Rats. I never get this right.

RubySlippers · 12/06/2008 09:43

oh, i think it is ideal for a wedding

it is demure with just a hint of sexiness

MrsBadger · 12/06/2008 09:45

Phase Eight has some corkers as well

llareggub · 12/06/2008 09:45

Oooh, I like that one rubyslippers.

I did actually order the bardot dress last night so I will try it and if indeed I look shelf-like and matronly I will send it back and start again.

I did suspect it might not be right, particularly under the arm area. I do have an incredible boulder houlder bra which does lift and separate and fits me perfectly

Hmm.

Clutching at more straws....

I did think that the bow might draw attention away from the shelfesque norks?

DH is the photographer so I could always get him to perform some post-wedding photoshop magic! Am thinking some serious photoshop work, skimming inches of the waist etc etc

i ahve big tits and id wear it

depends on many things not just tit size

RubySlippers · 12/06/2008 09:50

your norks will look shelf like and the bow detail, coupled with the bardot neckline will make you look solid from shoulders to waist

a V neckline will look better

llareggub · 12/06/2008 09:54

nailpolish, what else do you think it depends on?

OP posts:
nailpolish · 12/06/2008 09:56

height, waist size, arms, shoes, posture

EffiePerine · 12/06/2008 09:56

I think it's a gorgeous dress . I would be worried about the neckline as well BUT deoends HOW large of nork you are and how narrow your back is. Try it on and see.

llareggub · 12/06/2008 10:07

Well, I am 5'6, narrow of waist and have damn good posture. I do have a tummy though. I have to say I carry myself well. I've always been big and used to hide in black but I've developed more confidence over the years and now walk and stand tall.

Arms not good.

I think the dress rubyslippers linked to would probably be better for me, but I like the bardot dress. If I was standing up I'd stamp my feet!

go and try it on. take high heels with you

ivyJkaty44 · 12/06/2008 13:24

It is probably the colour - not the material that I am unsure about for a wedding. I do think it is a lovely dress, perhaps with all the finary on aswell it will look fantastic for a wedding.

i thought that neckline helped reduce norks - but I only have tinsie ones so dont know

CountessDracula · 12/06/2008 13:26

are you hourglass or apple?

They are opposites!

if you have no waist then avoid waist ties and go for a v neck

CountessDracula · 12/06/2008 13:26

We need your measurments really!

Gobbledigook · 12/06/2008 13:28

I love the dress but not being large of nork myself, I'm not sure of norkage issues.

You're 5'6 - what size are you (i.e. dress size).

Agree with CD - if you have no waist then don't go for it. It would look fabulous on an hourglass shape I think.

However, can waist ties not accentuate a tummy? I always avoid waist ties because, although I'm slim, I do have a round tummy and I don't want to accentuate it.

llareggub · 12/06/2008 20:45

I saw hourglass/apple because I'm not overly sure of the terminology.

I am very, very curvy with huge norks, (relatively) small waist and hips. I have good legs but a big tummy. From the back view I am a classic hourglass shape. From the side view obviously my tummy is an issue but with damn good underwear it isn't so much of an issue. Post c-section (OK it was 20 months ago now, but still) it is worse than it has ever been.

My size varies. Trousers and skirts tend to be a size 16 and depending on the brand, I can be an 18 or a 20 on top. Dresses for that reason can be problematic because they tend to fit snugly on top and bag around the waist, so I will have to try it on and see.

Thanks for all of your comments. I have it on order as I bought it before I started the thread but it is a new shape for me. I've worn wrap dresses for ages but I've gone off them. I wanted a more fitted, structured shape than I usually go for. When the dress arrives I shall report back|!
