Recommendations for a ‘do over’

There are some health issues I need to address including weight loss (I do not want to take WLJs). I am a size 18/20 and think I’ve got complacent. I am peri.

I have time and resources and some money to spend each month on myself. What would you recommend in the first instance and ongoing.

I know can book a hair appointment to tidy this up but I haven’t a clue about facials/treatments/products (combination with redness)

Wardrobe - I really am fumbling along and elasticated wide legs with trainers have replaced jeggings with trainers
Any ideas?

1)Any routine tips/practical stuff as well as products?

2)If you have yourself a do over/update what helped, made a difference

3)What time frame should I set myself - this is important so I can actively practice being patient

If I were you I would maybe look into some of those food boxes that help you cook high protein, low calorie meals for weight loss. Similar to Hello Fresh, but can’t remember the name.

And a gym subscription.

Hold off on the new clothes until you’ve lost some weight otherwise they won’t fit.

Hairdrrssers to advise on a good cut and colour.

Facecare. I’m not sure, it is a bit of a minefield and some products are just so expensive, but somebody might be able to recommend a good range for you.

Good luck!

Thank you

I am quite capable in the kitchen and have identified some new recipes to try. I have a meal plan and Tesco shops booked with the items on order - so this is one area I’ve started to address

I have made an appointment for my local gym today.

I wouldn’t start the gym just yet. I think tha will lead to failing. I’d suggest Pilates. Something tough but stretchy and strengthening that you can do at you own pace and gain confidence with. If you can manage twice a week then you will begin to see results in 3 months. Your mind will also feel more positive which will help with you will power and confidence.

a daily brisk walk too for 30 mins.

go int different salons to see how they feel to you. You do get what you pay for but there are a lot that overcharge without the skills. Where are you located?

skincare is very personal and brands and formulas suit different people so difficult to advise on that. Perhaps a trip to SpaceNk or somewhere with multi brands near you that can advise. Personally mine has been transformed by using Heaven by Deborah Mitchel. Expensive but not extreme and has really worked for me.

I’d really recommend a skin + me consultation, they’ve turned my skin around in about 6 months, much cheaper than going to my last dermatologist. Hydration too, get your water intake up and your skin will thank you! Would a red light mask be of interest? I use the current body and it does make such a difference too, between than and the skin+me it’s been fantastic. I do have regular facials too, one a month, my skin feels amazing after - I get a facial that has cleansing, steam, face masks, light therapy and a facial massage. I feel like this is more of an indulgence than a true transformative thing!

Routine tips - I use the summer Fridays jet lag mask a few times a week, I use my LED face mask a few times a week, daily skincare from skin+me, never skip a facial cleanse or moisturise, get my water intake up, always braid my hair and sleep on silk pillows so I don’t wake up frizzy, have my nails done (honestly makes me feel put together), tint my eyebrows at home (helps the bare faced days!). Get out and about every day into the fresh air too!

Time frame wise, my skincare I would say 3-6 months I noticed a huge difference, but the LED mask was maybe 2-3 months? For the gym it was about 3 months.

What sort of wardrobe do you want to curate? I’m a big materials person, I think anything in the right colour and natural material can help you feel polished + put together. A few good basics from M&S / H&M, some good quality knitwear / cardigans / T-shirts and a pair of good jeans + a good coat is basically a whole winter wardrobe! I’m loving lululemon matching sets for the gym, if I feel better about my outfit I do better at the gym - not sure what sorcery this is but it works 😂

Weight Watchers and plenty of walking. Stick on a pod cast, audio book or music and go for a walk somewhere. Treat yourself to a coffee for the return journey and on WW you get additional points for exercise so win win! As long as you have suitable footwear and clothing then it’s basically free!
