Fit and flare coat in a Barbour type material?

I saw an associate in autumn who was wearing a rather epic black fit and flare coat in what looked like a Barbour type cloth. It was about three quarter length and was longer at the back than the front. I did look at Barbour online and no. I’ve also looked at Sweaty Beaty and no. She’s pretty cool but not rich, so I could see it being over £100 as a price point but not £200. Any thoughts on where it might have been from?

Not really sure what you mean by fit and flare - what I picture for that, I never really see in coats! Was it hooded?

Rain sisters? It's a little over the £200 price point though

Sounds like a Welligogs coat.

I would guess Rain Sisters too. Very pricey. But what do you mean by associate? Someone you work with?

@ChuisEpuisee Fit and flare coats are surely super common? Not in Barbour material obviously.

Yes but they are mad money!!!! I’ll see what style it was most like. Don’t remember a hood.

Not sure I'm picturing the right thing tbh - I might be thinking of skater dresses! 😁

This kind of bottom. I don’t know what the fit would be called.
I think the material was more of a rain coat type material.

They seem to be calling the style a ‘fitted waist and fish tail design’.

Hoods are removable.

The prices have gone insane, certainly weren’t that price when I bought mine (although never cheap).

Maybe have a look on Vinted?

I think these are sometimes called riding coats - the idea being that the flared bit accomodates your saddle and / or horse Smile

Floisme · 27/12/2025 20:38

Celtic and Co do a waxed cotton riding coat that sounds similar. Not cheap and sold out in a lot of sizes but worth a look?

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 27/12/2025 20:53

I love the style of that but maybe not all the bling of it.

Thats exactly what the bottom looked like though.

You could look at Protected Species. Great raincoats and they have a belted trench.

Yes I was going to say this. This style is originally for riding to cover the back of the saddle. You can also get really long ones that also cover the back of the horse. Super cosy! 🥰

I think the riding coat is a good shout! There’s a harry hall one in the sale that looks really nice.
