Christian Louboutin shoes slightly too small

DH has absolutely won Christmas and bought me my first pair of Louboutins! I am usually about a 38.5 in shoe and he got me 38 (closed toe) and I am looking for any advice in stretching them a little as we are unable to return for a different size.

They feel OK in the length but very pinchy across the toes and I don't want to do anything which may cause damage so I am looking for any advice, tips and tricks to make them work!

Thanks in advance

Wooden shoe stretchers might do the trick.

Doggymummar · 25/12/2025 18:33

I have shoe stretchers as I am a 3.5 and shoes are eare in this size. Ifbrakes a few weeks doing a tiny turn a day but it does work,

Are they patent or plain leather? The patent don’t tend to stretch that well, why can’t you swap? Even for a different style?

LifeBeginsToday · 25/12/2025 18:35

Are they too slim or too short? You can make shoes wider but not longer.

I really wouldn’t rely on them stretching. Why can’t you change them? Why did he buy you the wrong size?

In the true story of Cinderella, in order to fit a slipper on, one of the step-sisters cut off a toe to get it on.
Have you considered this?

FrangipaniBlue · 25/12/2025 19:13

I have to go up a half size in Louboutins…… but I know that probably isn’t what you wanted to hear Confused

Drivingmissrangey · 25/12/2025 19:15

If I need to stretch a pair of shoes I wear them on a flight. My feet always swell slightly on a flight so they stretch without having to walk anywhere whilst wearing them in.

Radiator981 · 25/12/2025 19:15

deffo need to be a 6 if you’re a 38.5 at least…why can’t you swap them?

🤣 With your username, no one will trust you with anything to do with feet/footwear!

I wouldn’t mess around with them. It would be better to exchange them. They must get loads exchanged after Christmas.

sweetpickle2 · 25/12/2025 19:19

Wear them round the house with wet socks on till the socks dry.

Although that’ll only help so much if they’re the wrong size- as PP said I have to go up half a size in CL.

NigelForage · 25/12/2025 19:20

Why can't you return

If you really can’t return them you would honestly be better off selling them and getting the size that fits, even if that means taking a small hit financially. You can stretch shoes that are your size to make them more comfortable but not shoes that are too small to begin with. You’ll end up ruining them and still not being able to wear them.

What a lovely thing for your DH to have done. It’s definitely the thought that counts!

I don't think buying shoes in the wrong size is lovely at all. I would return them and get a size that fits.

Although, I'm biased because I can't bear uncomfortable shoes.

Stretchingshoes · 25/12/2025 19:44

Thanks everyone for all your advice! They do seem to be OK on the length, but toes are fighting for their lives in there 😂 I'll try the wet socks and maybe look into stretchers.

I live in the Cayman Islands and DH bought them on a work trip when he was in America a couple of months ago so we can't take them back as no trips to the states are coming up.

TBF to him, he did ask my shoe size a while ago and I gave an unhelpful 'sometimes 38, sometimes 39 as I'm in the middle' and he went with the 38s.

Hairdryer trick?

Radiator981 · 25/12/2025 23:16

Why not write to them? Or where he bought them from? Ask if you can return via post and exchange?
