Just that!

But aging is all about turkey neck, eye bags, that is literally what aging is.

What happens if it all falls apart in 10 years? Will you go back for more? Will you keep having it done even if you start to emulate Joan Rivers?! I honestly think this is inevitable if you try to hold back the sands of time with surgery.

Edited

I think that women are happy to accept ageing but it's more a case of 'not just yet' @MangerThings

There is a huge variation in how women age.

No one expects to look young at 90, but if you're 50 and it all falls south you might want to look a shade younger and less tired for a good few years.

I see a huge difference in my friends. Some who are 60 have zero wrinkles and sagging, others look much older.

I think most women who have tweaks aren't focusing so much on youth per se but not looking worn and tired, which is very depressing every time they look in the mirror.

Bonden · 20/12/2025 10:34

Which bit has made the most impact do you think?

IsItMe24 · 20/12/2025 10:50

Is it called a neck lift? I have the most awful turkey neck and want something doing (I’m 38 but have the neck of an 80 year old!)
But I don’t know what the procedure is called!

Gettingbysomehow · 20/12/2025 10:53

Yay! Go you. Im so glad it was a good experience. Im off for a full face in Lithuania in May. I'll be 64 by then I can't wait.

EasternStandard · 20/12/2025 10:58

Local anaesthetic oof. Couldn’t do that.

Would you put up pics?

Gettingbysomehow · 20/12/2025 11:01

Ill be posting g pics of mine for sure.

Touty · 20/12/2025 11:07

Was it a mini facelift you had? I’m guessing as it was done under local?

LilyRose88 · 20/12/2025 15:52

I had all that done in 2017 under a general anaesthetic. I wouldn't have wanted it done under a local anaesthetic to be honest. I found the first night after surgery to be horrendous and the next few days pretty awful. I stayed in hospital for 3 days afterwards. I had lots of bruising and swelling and looked like something from a horror movie for the first few days. After 2 weeks I looked a bit better and after 4 weeks I could safely go out in public without worrying about what I looked like.
The results were amazing and I am very happy with the way I look. I would say it's knocked at least 10 years off me (I was 59 when I had it done). I had it done in a private London hospital and my surgeon was recommended to me. He was very honest about how I would look and feel in the immediate aftermath and made sure that I fully understood what I was letting myself in for! He specialises in natural looks.

Pavementworrier · 20/12/2025 16:58

10k???? Including VAT??

Also, did you tell your family you were getting it done? Id love to get it done but I think I'll need to construct an elaborate lie for people (possibly including my husband haha)

VanGoghsSunflower · 20/12/2025 17:40

I’m 59 and thankful I’ve been aging well. I look at my mother who lived until 93 without any cosmetic procedures, and my aunt (her sister) who passed at 91 with two facelifts, blephs and Botox along the way. At the end of their lives they still looked the same. My aunt was correcting sun damage, alcohol use, late nights socializing, and weight fluctuations. We forget sometimes how lifestyle is a factor in how we look.

Id rather have fun and a facelift than a tap water lifestyle and no facelift

Not so black and white. My mother travelled just as much but put effort into protecting her skin. She hardly drank though - she saw too many loved ones dying early of alcohol-related disease/cancer. She was healthy and independent until the end.

halfpastten · 20/12/2025 22:58

Did you consider or try to take a serious non-surfical route first through healthy living, exercise and diet? How would you describe your current approach to healthy living, exercise and diet?

I put the whole journey on here at the time but I can’t find it now!! I’ll send you pics to your inbox

Does anyone want to come on my Upper and Lower Bleph and Necklift journey with me? | Mumsnet

and here in 2024

I’ve had a face lift, a neck lift and upper and lower eyelid surgery - AMA | Mumsnet

blueshoes · 20/12/2025 23:47

Was it a deep plane face and neck lift?

10,000 is a very reasonable price for all the procedures you had. The local anaesthetic would no doubt have helped to keep the cost down but 4 hours sounds brutal! Did you have sedation? Were you lying down during the procedure?

Glad you are pleased with the results. I am still summoning the courage and doing my research.

Thelittlegreyone · 21/12/2025 08:20

This is obviously an experience/achievement that is really important to OP. I'm really pleased that it's been positive for her. I can't help but feel she get's a bit "missed" on these threads, and I wonder what she wants from them.

KingfisherBluey · 21/12/2025 09:03

This is your 3rd thread on this if I'm correct OP.
I don't know what you want from it- is it to help women or are you still a bit insecure about how you look and want reassurance?

This isn't a criticism of you but I'd always have thought that any surgery would have to be done after weight loss because otherwise it's a much bigger job removing fat from the neck /face and more riskier.

Were you not advised to lose weight first?

StupidHappyClocks · 21/12/2025 09:10

I can see the temptation to do this and I don’t judge anyone who does it. I’m glad it’s worked out well for you, OP.

But there’s not a chance I’d have surgery on my face. Too many variables - health wise and results wise.

I’m not far off 50 myself and it’s hard at times seeing the ageing process starting, but honestly, I feel like getting older is a privilege. The most beautiful 70 yr olds are definitely not the ones who have had work done. They’re the ones with an inner glow and sparkle in their eyes.

Thelittlegreyone · 21/12/2025 09:24

OP still may have an inner glow and a sparkle in her eyes at 70. She definitely has lovely skin in the photos I've seen.

I don't know what you want from it- is it to help women or are you still a bit insecure about how you look and want reassurance? My guess is that it's made a huge difference to her life, more than she hoped or expected. But I can't figure out what it is that's still missing for her.

OvernightBloats · 21/12/2025 09:27

Did you find you got more attention after the surgery? Did people look at you more? Did people comment that you look different?

Holluschickie · 21/12/2025 09:42

A bit odd to start 3 threads but I suppose no law against it.

blueshoes · 21/12/2025 14:32

Hey OP, you are not answering your AMA.

It is fine if this is a your third thread. You are not hiding the fact. @seafoamhair has helpfully posted the links.

GarlicRound · 21/12/2025 14:48

Wow. That is spectacular.

I haven't and won't, but I can understand it. It's quite sad to 'lose' your face as you have known it; if somebody could wave a magic wand and put mine back to its previous shape, I'd be delighted! As things are, I've worked on radical acceptance instead - for general life issues, but it has resulted in reasonable sanguinity about my appearance.

Thelittlegreyone · 21/12/2025 16:19

I agree, coming to terms with the loss of our Yourh can be a challenge (!).
