Do you have many watches or stick to the same one? Is it best to buy cheap or go high end? I'm thinking of treating myself to a sleek, metal bracelet style. Can't decide whether to go budget or high end. Any opinions would be great.

I have a fair few watches, I love a good watch! I would say I’m mid high end (high end if you don’t know watches, but if you’re into watches they’re basic - mid end).

I tend to stick to my classics during the week (metal bracelets and normal faces, then bring out the slightly more exciting ones at the weekend!).

Yes I like a nice watch too. Can I ask what makes you go for? Or do you buy whatever style you see that catches your eye? I've got designer ones like Armani, Rotary, DKNY and love my baby G Shock. But thinking of going for a more considered purchase like Longines, Tudor or even Rolex

I tend to wear my Apple Watch most of the time, but I also have a Tag Heuer, Longines, 2 Gucci and my favourite of all Omega Constellation. My Omega may suit you as it's a metal bracelet with a classic design, small round face and comes in lots of colour ways. I have this one but there are lots of different colourways and with and without diamonds. Mine is now £5900 but I got it 7 years ago and it was about £4000 then, they have gone up in price a lot since then. Ladies watches don't seem to hold their value like popular men's do so my tip would be to look at second hand if you're thinking high end. For the price of a brand new Omega you would get a gorgeous second hand Rolex. If you're not wanting to spend as much as that Tag are nice. There are loads of pretty cheaper brands too, I think £500 on Beaverbrooks gives you a lot of choice of some very pretty watches.

Love your username!

Your Omega is gorgeous and yes along those lines is what I'm looking for. You've done well with its increase in value. I think you're right about pre-owned and Rolex. Was looking at something like this with grey, white or mother of pearl face.

@toomanydicksonthedancefloor1

I pick whatever catches my eye if I’m honest, I like a good mechanism, big fan of pretty bezels and I like a heavier feeling watch too. I’m a Rolex / Omega / Vacheron girl. I buy from ADs rather than grey (although there’s some really good verified second hand / vintage dealers) but I am eyeing up a birth year vintage watch for my next birthday!

I have a Rolex similar to the one you’ve screenshot on a different bracelet, I love it, it’s a classic and goes with everything. It’s also not particularly flashy imo.

That watch is lovely. Yes I do prefer an oyster bracelet like yours to the jubilee in my photo. Apparently jubilee is more popular but I think the oyster is more sleek. Oh great idea getting a watch from your birth year.

I agree some of the watches with diamond bezels and diamonds also on the dial looking iced-out can be a bit too much (for my taste). I like the size of your watch. Ive got small wrists so need to check how large a dial I could get.

Its nice to see others having an interest in watches especially women. Its a shame mobile phones have in some ways reduced the popularity of watches, I think they help "finish off" an outfit/look.

Oooh. Following this thread. A few years ago DH bought me a lovely mixed metal Longines with little diamonds on the face. I’m no watch expert but I adore it. It is a dressy watch though so I wear it for wedding, funerals, smart meetings etc.

My old fit bit has died and I love wearing a real watch so much I’m on the lookout for an everyday watch. I’d like a leather strap, not a huge face, waterproof and make in the UK - any suggestions!?! All I can seem to find is men’s watches

FunnysInLaJardin · 16/12/2025 22:22

I have a white ceramic Rado watch that DH bought me when DS2 was born 16 years ago. I wear it everyday.

I also have a Longines from around 1998 which I ought to wear but dont as the strap is too small now

They were both about £500 when they were bought

So I go for quality!

For inspiration I've been going on "watchfinder" they have a good selection of styles and makes to give you ideas. I've spent quite a while on there!

Its nice to have a special watch but like you say an everyday one is also needed. But I think its best to get a neutral coloured one so it goes with most outfits when it is worn.

Oh definitely get the watch strap replaced, life is too short to not be wearing lovely pieces. I've recent put some jewellery in for maintenance/ repair and I'm enjoying wearing it again, cant believe I left it so long.

I shall take a look at Rado watches!

Snap - but for the mother of pearl face, a fluted bezel and diamond dot. Classic!

WigglywagglyWanda · 16/12/2025 22:58

I love a nice watch.

Was very lucky before I retired as I worked in a high end jewellers who let us buy at cost and pay it back in dribs and drabs. I bought a pre owned Cartier Santos, the two colour gold/silver model. Ive had it over 20 years now and l do love it.

Once I've finished in my current career I would like to work in a high end jewellers. Buying pieces at cost price would be great. Its nice that watches and jewellery are used to mark occasions/milestones that bring back memories

I love watches my current daily one is a Tissot and I love it. My others are a Tag, a Tudor and a Brietling.
I’m going to buy a Rolex for my next big birthday I look at pictures regularly.

I tend to go for “men’s” watches as I like big oversized faces on my watch. I always opt for quite classic timeless styles that I can wear with any outfit and always a metal bracelet.
I’d love a Cartier Tank Française I might have to add that to my wish list

FestiveBauble · 17/12/2025 07:20

@AlexaBeQuiet ooo a mother of pearl face is on my wish list! I just think they’re such a classic and so pretty!
