Micro-needling

Has anyone bought a micro-needle and serum and done it at home?
I’ve looked at the Trinny one and Dr Pen.
Dr pen is way more expensive, not sure if this means it works better, or it’s just different.

I know doing it at home isn’t the same as a professional doing it for you, but wondered if it makes a noticeable difference when using this home in a regular basis?

I have tried it albeit pretty low rent (using a derma roller from Amazon for about a tenner). It looked basically identical to the Trinny tool.

I use it weekly with a hyloronic acid from Superdrug. I use on face and on neck.

i do think it helps. My skin is pretty ok anyway but my neck seems to have tightened a bit and my skin texture is a bit better. May be looking for what I want to see of course. It certainly isn’t hurting let’s put it that way.

I may upgrade in due course.

Yes, I have the Dr Pen A10 (from Amazon).

I have been lax in using it recently, but when I was using it every month/ five weeks, the difference in my skin texture was incredible. My issues are large pores and slight acne scars. I was surprised how well it has worked. I have found that even using it lightly results in brighter looking skin.

What are your main concerns?

If you do buy one, be aware that depending on how deep you go, you might look a little scary the next day and if you could peel heavily for a few days. It will look like sunburn immediately after.

If you go for it, wipe your face and the needles with an alcohol wipe, then apply a thick coat of hyaluronic acid to your skin. I normally do it in sections- forehead, each cheek, chin etc. Start with a low depth (0.25 or 0.5) the first time so you have a gauge of how you might respond.

I've never had it done professionally so can't compare, but it's definitely been one of my skin care successes of the last year.

I do this at home once or twice a week, with an Amazon-bought roller and a bottle of cheap HA. It seems to perk my skin up, in conjunction with the LED mask I use every day.

Thank you all! I have heard of the Dr Pen ones, and will take a look on Amazon too!

I use dr pen at home sometimes and its good and then maintain my routine and its fine. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel

I used to do it with a dermaroller i got from Amazon. I got quite long needles (1.5mm iirc) so it was fairly painful. I used to do it on the evenings that I'd had a glass of wine so it didn't hurt as much. I'm not sure how much difference it made. It's really hard to say because you don't get instant results after one session. There is a bit of swelling afterwards which can look like results, but then the swelling goes down again.
