I’ve bought some Glaize stick-on gels

Any advice for me to make sure that I stick them on / fit them properly so that they last? I bought standard, not made to measure ones.

I don’t have any experience of that brand but I do use other nail wraps.

Don’t stick them on your cuticle. Leave a teeny gap.

Ditto the skin at the side of your nails. Better to be the slightest bit too narrow and leave a gap than overlap onto the skin. They will lift.

My ones stay on best with a base coat which I let dry for ages - they don’t like any wet underneath as they could ‘bubble’.

Do them late evening and then don’t shower or have a bath or wash your hands until the next day. They don’t like wet until they’ve properly adhered to your nails.

And finally do NOT peel them off. Soak them with nail polish remover or buy the brand’s remover stuff. Mine is like a thick stinky nail polish and it magically bubbles the wrap away for easy wiping off.

Enjoy!

Treat it like painting a bedroom. Prep of surface is 80% of it
Leave gap near cuticle.

Make sure it's wide enough at sides

Have a couple of good nail files on standby for the tips you want short sharp firm files.

I bought them. Thought they were rubbish but I am a bit cack handed.

I use these nails and through trial and error I've learned a couple of things.

When you apply them spend twice as long applying pressure to stick them down, especially on the tips of your nails, as you think is necessary.

Be aware that applying pressure to the sides of the nail can make it buckle in the middle.

Try to keep them on for two weeks, they are easier to remove the longer they've been on.

Treat them as you would any manicure, by being careful what you do with them for a couple of hours after applying.

when removing them, use oil (I use a cuticle oil) start from the bottom and roll them, don't pull. As soon as you feel resistance, put a bit more oil on the exposed nail and leave it to soak in. Just do another nail in the meantime.

take plenty of time removing them. It takes me about 45 minutes to remove mine with little to no residue left on the nail, and no damage to the nail also.

I bought the standard nails the first couple of times and found they were too wide for my nails. I now get the customs made ones which are much easier and quicker to apply.

I have had a really good experience with them and I hope you have the same.

Oh, and if you haven't already got some, get some small nail scissors.

I use the Sassy Saints cured gel wraps. I find that the glittery ones stay on much better and look nicer than the solid colour ones. I use nail clippers to cut off the excess as I am useless with scissors using my left hand. You need to make sure your cuticles do not go under the nail as it will lift. I love them.
