Rosacea and laser treatments?

cinnamontreat767 · 30/11/2025 01:00

I have rosacea that has been getting worse as I get older. I use soolantra and it's been amazing in clearing it up, reducing redness and evening out my skin texture. I would love to go and get some lasers and potentially skin boosters, but I am so worried that it will make my rosacea worse... Anyone had a similar experience who could share success stories or cautionary tales?

I have type 2 rosacea that I keep under control with ivermectin and metronidazole from Dermatica.
My under eyes were very different, one had a prominent wrinkle and the other didn’t so I had Plinest Polynucleotide treatment, both sides in the under eye area. In my check up you could see that the redness had been reduced on my cheeks as an added bonus. The Dr did mention that I could have the polynucleotides on my lower face to reduce the redness there as well. It is expensive and I am happy with what the ivermectin and metronidazole does so have not gone any further.

I looked into a form of electrolysis for the thread veins I have on my cheeks, but haven't gone ahead. There's some evidence that the thread veins return (or more accurately, others show up over time). Laser treatment seems to be more widely available.

As I have got older, my roseacea has lessened to the point where a bit of Green primer reduces the redness enough. I have had my thread veins treated around my nose and chin but they have returned (after about 2 years) so I might get them done again. They can only do the bigger ones though, the really tiny ones are still there.

IPL is excellent for rosacea. It’s a known and evidenced treatment

polynucleotides (as mentioned by a previous poster) isn’t evidenced, however it does seem to help rosacea nicely :)

How long did it last? Is it something that needs maintenance every couple of months or so?

I believe it lasts 6 to 9 months.
I had 3 treatments, 3 weeks apart and then it’s about 12 weeks to see the full effect. The first and second treatments I bruised badly, looked liked I had one black eye but it was in a sensitive area.
I would go and have the treatment again and to keep up with the results.

Does laser help with enlarged pores caused by rosacea? My redness is mostly under control but my pores are still massive.

I was reading about a different type of botox, I think it was called micro-botox? I haven't tried it yet, its supposed to be diluted botox injected into your skin that's meant to be good for pores.
I haven't tried it yet either though..

I gave up dairy and mine cleared up virtually overnight, well over a month anyway Smile

OP came across this- just wanted to offer a word of caution. I was in a similar position to you. I had IPL to treat dry eyes and my rosacea has kicked up worse than ever. I think I’ve been unlucky and this is rare but just be careful if you’ve managed to get it stable.

I would advise against laser treatments. Check out FB first and look at laser damage groups. You would be horrified and believe me every type of laser in there has caused issues to many.

i had laser treatment for my veins and honestly I can say whilst the veins went away temporarily they have returned. I gained huge pores afterwards and a loss of volume in my face so I really would avoid at all costs (this is how I found the group but it was too late for me sadly)

So I've had this done in the summer, it is incredibly painful! I think my skin condition did improve though and I liked it a lot.. I'm not sure if I want to do it again though because of the pain.

What kind of rosacea do you have? Im interested in soloontra

AmplePlayer · 12/02/2026 00:09

Don't do the laser - I tried and it caused permanent damage. I found a skin&me prescription to be the best thing for Rosacea, now I'm left with the perm red areas but they're only noticeable on a stress induced flare-up.

Inflammatory (subtype2). I discovered there's something called demodex and soolantra is very effective for that. Honestly, if it's your subtype, give it a try, it was life changing for me! My face finally looks normal after so many years of trying different things (I tried different creams, facial treatments etc)
I was recommended to try some creams with azelaic acid as well, but went for soolantra first
