Jumper with the arms kind of attached…hard to explain

I was chatting to a lady at a conference the week before last.

She looked very smart. She was wearing a shirt with a black jumper over the top. But the arms of the jumper weren’t defined like a normal jumper, they were kind of lower and sort of attached. Very hard to explain but the result was kind of half jumper half cape (but nicer and more normal looking than that sounds!!)

The neckline was kind of straight across.

Does anybody know the type of thing I’m talking about??

Batwing?

Rituelec · 28/11/2025 22:35

Was it like a twist front?

GovernmentFundedSteak · 28/11/2025 22:37

Sounds like batwing to me

like Jaki London draped sweaters?

No, not like that. So no, not batwing.

the sleeves are straight and tight to the arm like a regular jumper. 3/4 length sleeve.

But instead of the sleeves being separate from the body of the jumper from armpit height, it is much lower, probably around elbow height. So because they are 3/4 length sleeve, there is very little actual “sleeve”.

maybe thr arms just pop out thre jumper at elbow height and there are no actual “sleeves”?

does that make any more sense?

Ok, so next question…anyone know any similar options which are a bit cheaper? £96 is a bit steep for me!

@ElReverendoGreen try searching for images of a sweater scarf. There are some that seem to match your description but others that are slightly different. Good luck.

ABeerInTheSunshineMakesMeHappy · 28/11/2025 22:55

Batwing sleeves tend to have tighter arms than the Zara sweater - more like the Jake London jumper .

Minimonkeysmum · 28/11/2025 22:58

I think these are known as dolman sleeves - if you search that a few similar (cheaper!) options come
up. Good luck!

FrangipaniBlue · 28/11/2025 22:58

Try searching for the jaki London ones on Vinted maybe?

they are very pretty!

Thanks, I had a look, but still expensive.

If I have to pay a lot I’d rather buy new so I can return if not suitable.

My son bought me one for my birthday last year, loved it. Then I found some on Roman Clothing. They're so warm to wear.

FateAmenableToChange · 28/11/2025 23:07

They are very flattering, but seems like a lot for viscose.

EconomyClassRockstar · 28/11/2025 23:20

I have a virtually identical one from Urban Outfitters and it was $50.
